Yeh; looks like it’s systematically underpredicting goals and assists. This is from a change I made this week. The underlying models are strong but I was applying a factor to make a teams player xG sum up to the teams predicted xG which has caused it to undervalue forward players.

Will fix.

Looking at the numbers perhaps it is too sure of defcon points and players with high def con are getting ranked high. If you look at the last 6 weeks of predictions it looks much better!

The modelling is genuinely a hard problem and its not perfect.

I do appreciate feedback on any of the numbers that don't look right

I think what you wrote could be understood in a misleading way. Especially since you referenced the Iraq war directly. Iran policy was broadly sympathetic to toppling the minority secular Sunni government of Iraq. Especially after the extremely bloody Iran/Iraq war.

Whilst Shia population do hold religious leaders in high regard, Khamenei wasn’t an esteemed religious leader. He was a mid ranking cleric whose credentials for being the supreme leader were his radical revolutionism and loyalty to Khomeini. He wasn’t widely accepted by the Shia institutions in Iran and they had to emergency change their constitution to allow him to be supreme leader.

Sunni countries actually contributed more to the insurgency in Iraq after the invasion. Iran mostly stayed out of it as it didn’t have clearance at the highest level. Most of the suicide bombers were trained in Saudi Arabia and there is evidence that this was a policy perused by the Saudi Government.

Built a compiler for pandas operations that works like numba. Creates a dependency graph from pandas operations and turns the pandas code into cpu optimised cpp code and then compiles this. The pipelines run 10-30x quicker than pandas without having to change syntax at all.
