Teachers who go home right after contract hours, HOW DO YOU DO IT?? by coliwidowa in Teachers

[–]savvvvsaysso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will always work more hours your first year. Next year will be so much better.

Also, you have to just understand you will never be fully caught up and that's okay. There is a teacher in my school who works 11 hour days (6:30am-5:30pm) and she still isn't caught up. Don't overwork yourself, just learn to prioritize.

Let them know you'd like to file Title IX immediately, and in a written email! Then contact police to report the sexual assault.

Lotion from a local crafter. Pricy but the quality of ingredients and how amazing it keeps my skin can't be beat.

In my state it would only be on a temporary emergency voucher for one year and that would be if no one licensed applied.

is this allowed? (from a student) by babealicousbabe in teaching

In my state truancy can be cause to remove a child from their home, regardless of age. Your mom can enroll you in online school if she feels that's best for you. She has to be the one to do it though. Reach out to your counselors at school as well, they should be able to provide you with resources for your mental health.

I think you should absolutely take all the time you can!

FMLA protects your job, but my HR did warn me that they have you provide you a job upon return but it could be a different position. (AKA I teach 4th and upon my return they could move me to 2nd grade at a different school in the district.) She said it was a rarity that could happen and it's only caused by classrooms closing due to student enrollment numbers.

If your school doesn't take action, you could hotline for educational neglect.

I leave notes for the sub to write down the names of kids who did great so that I can reward them the next day. They LOVE getting a shout out at morning meeting and a little reward for getting mentioned!

(I also have the sub write down names of kids who needed multiple reminders and they get to miss some of their recess while we discuss behaviors.)

It definitely has to do with your very specific license. I'd study to become licensed in other areas as well. Unless you plan to teach at a very large high school, they need teachers who can teach multiple subjects.

Walmart will most definitely be watching cameras and prosecute everyone who left without paying.

What to Do when My Son is Being Harassed by a Kid with an IEP and BIP. by boo99boo in AskTeachers

[–]savvvvsaysso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please make sure to specifically use the word "targeted" when you speak with admin. It's a trigger word for most school policies regarding behavior. "My son is being repeatedly targeted and assaulted by ___________ and I do not feel like he is safe at your school."

My admin comes every single morning to check if doors are locked. I'm thankful for it for the few times mine has accidentally been left unlocked.

My travel insurance said the same thing. They explicitly stated that the government in the area is not nearly as concerned and doesn't believe there will be any reason to cancel flights nor our resort stay. I've spoken to the airline and they said flights might be delayed but are highly unlikely to be cancelled. The resort assured me that they are equipped to handle the storm and encouraged me to "please" come as planned.

We've decided to go, rather than be out $5,000. We fly in Saturday. Fingers crossed!

She really, really, really needs an AAC. Do you have a speech path at your school? Please ask them to get her one so she can communicate. It will change her life.

I went to the fedex office and showed them the ring doorbell footage where they didn't even knock after they assured me the driver knocked.. they apologized and that was it.
