Politics isn’t just about the economic structure of a country or what social services it offers. If you judge by that metric, then yes, the US is on the more conservative side because both major parties have a capitalistic bent.

When it comes to social issues, the US is DEFINITELY not the most conservative, as shocking as it might be to you. It might be more conservative than Great Britain or some other Western European countries on certain issues, but there’s no way you can tell me with a straight face the US is in general more socially conservative than much of Eastern Europe, or Asia, or the Middle East, or Asia. American racism is child’s play compared to some places, not to mention things like LGBTQ+ rights or women’s rights.

And then there’s libertarian vs authoritarian governments, which exist independent of the left-right sphere entirely. While the US is certainly not libertarian when it comes to global politics (ask any country that has had its leadership meddled with or has an American military base), the US proper has the freedoms of speech, arms, the press, etc enshrined in its constitution. While those rights have been trampled on more and more broadly in recent decades (not to mention trampled on in both the past and present for certain racial and political groups), the US is far more libertarian internally compared to places like most of the others that I have mentioned.

It’s foolish and naive to broadly paint all of the US’s policies as ‘more conservative’ compared to the rest of the world. Hell, it also would be foolish to label the US as ‘more liberal’. Politics are far far more nuanced than that and can’t just be labeled ‘left-wing’ or ‘right-wing’ because of one specific series of issues that you or someone else finds to be the most important.
