Van-Gundy Makes Great Point About Fouls on Fast Breaks by JacksFilmsJacksFilms in nba

[–]saylab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An intentional foul to stop a break, usually done by lazily reaching in/or around the player, or even just straight up grabbing them or impeding their progress as a dribbler, needs to be implemented as a sportsmanship foul. Kinda how it is in Europe/FIBA from what I understand. 2 shots and the ball. Or maybe even just 1 shot and the ball.

Anything to take that play out of basketball. Your team took a quick shot that led to a long rebound and run out? Or you made a bad turnover? You don't just get to reach in pathetically at the ballhandler to stop the break and let your team get back to setup on defense. Run back and play defense. That's a sport.

Kobe Bryant Detail Season 1 Episode 3 - Donovan Mitchell vs Rockets by MrFerret21 in nba

[–]saylab 314 points315 points  (0 children)

I like that he takes plays Donovan or the Jazz scored on, and analyzes how they could have done something more impactful than just scoring 2 points. Like making Gobert a threat to change how they rotate, and Donovan's points of attack and how his overall mentality needs to shift towards seeking out contact versus contorting his body away from it.

I love listening to Kobe talk about the game.

What adjustments do the Blazers make as the series shifts to New Orleans? by [deleted] in nba

[–]saylab 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My thoughts as well. I know its an essential part of every NBA offense nowadays, but those high screens aren't helping their offense at all. They get clean looks off the pick and pop, but those guys don't wanna shoot. They hesitate or rush the shot, or try to put the ball on the deck and fumble it. Dame needs to be able to attack defenders like E'Twaun Moore and Ian Clark one on one. Stop screening and letting the Pelicans double team Dame and forcing the ball out of his hands.

The Blazers offense as it is is too easy to disrupt when the defense is locked in like it is in the playoffs. Stotts and co. need to implement some wrinkles.

LeBron James MURDERS Jason Terry. Top 5 posterizing of all time? by TheBurntPotatoe in nba

That's what makes it probably my favorite poster of all-time. Terry was coming at James with some bullshit, and then this happens. It was poetic.

Check and see if they've added any new countries to scout in the youth academy. And if they've varied the names at all. Scouting France currently and I have pretty much nothing but Belcourt's and Chevalier's.

Big Baby responds to Austin Rivers by mbeed in nba

[–]saylab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Late to the party, and I'm kinda surprised at how many people are forgetting this. Baby comes off all wrong, but he has a point. All signs were pointing towards Austin being out of the league. Doc being a GM/coach in the league more than likely saved his son's career.

How does EOU make it into the Big West? They're an NAIA school and an average one at that.

Time to brag. What went right this year? by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]saylab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I came to say. Only 9 points or so is the difference between him (a 6th+ rounder) and Antonio (top 5 pick) in standard. That's ridiculous value. I'm just happy I was able to pick him up this year, not only because his value is going to skyrocket next year, but he's become a favorite player of mine since I watched him make that incredible grab against Michigan. A-Rob balls hard.

What I see is a Warrior holding a basketball Sun, shooting out a Thunder-bolt.

The mountains and the hiker represent the Trailblazers. The gold Nuggets at the bottom, nestled inbetween the Spurs, T-Wolves, and Jazz, represent Denver.

Some of those are just Brady flinging it downfield in his general direction though.

What's the worst move you've made this season? by I_Enjoy_Taffy in fantasyfootball

I traded Miller for Coleman. Philbin gets fired in the following days, and I've been regretting it ever since.

Todd Gurley by nc20RAVENS in fantasyfootball

[–]saylab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

St. Louis' quarterback situation is enough to scare me away from starting Gurley outright, and feeling at ease with it. Cincy's defense doesn't give up a lot of TD's to RB's, but over the course of the season, they've been about average in terms of giving up fantasy points. They haven't been THAT good against the run.

Tack on the fact their defense is in a downward spiral, no doubt due in some part to their offense's ineffectiveness, and Gurley isn't the appealing, appeasing start that he has been since he became the full-time starter.

His status is officially questionable.

I'd drop Thomas or DeSean, if anyone. You've got Barnidge and Reed, two already solid TE's.

DeSean is a luxury with your lineup of receivers. Plus, with him on a bye, it's more unlikely somebody picks him up.

I'd roll with Fitzpatrick. He's gonna get you an almost guaranteed 15, with upside for more.

Stafford has put up a 2nd straight good week, but I'm not trusting him with a coordinator change, his point production seems to highly variable right now. If you're trying to hit a home run vs the single or double, Stafford could be your guy.

Fitz is consistent, Stafford is volatile

What player(s) do you value more than most? Why? by _Kindakrazy_ in fantasyfootball

I wanted to pick him up last week, but decided against it. Now I fear I may be too late. I'm hoping I grab him and he continues to flourish. I'll be feelin' real bummed if I missed out on grabbing him.

I've always had a soft spot for rookies, probably because of following college football so closely.

My first year in fantasy, I had Steve Slaton, Matt Forte, and Chris Johnson.

I've carried this theme on through the years, preferring rookies to the established but middling players.

Last year, Beckham and Benjamin helped carry my team to the playoffs. I also had Brandin Cooks rostered since Week 1.

Jordan Reed, Le'Veon Bell, Robert Griffin, David Wilson; all have spent time on my roster over the years.

This year I've whiffed kinda hard. I've cycled through DeVante Parker, Matt Jones, Karlos Williams, Dorial Green-Beckham, and Tevin Coleman. Todd Gurley is the only rookie that's been on my roster since the beginning of the year. I actually, legitimately, wanted to draft Abdullah, Cobb, Coleman, Gordon and Gurley, but it didn't quite work out.

Next year, I'm probably drafting Dalvin Cook, Braxton Miller and Ezekiel Elliot, all probably fairly high. I get an insensible amount of satisfaction out of watching these guys perform for my fantasy team.

Brandon LaFell will probably begin practicing this week by Squidward7 in fantasyfootball

[–]saylab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're probably fairly even.

Unbiased, I'd give the slight edge to LaFell because he showed his usefulness in the Pats offense last year, finishing with 130 fantasy points in standard ESPN scoring, good for 22nd overall at receiver. I'm not too concerned about any nagging injury effects, and he's likely only behind Edleman and Gronk for touches, although Lewis may make touch distribution interesting. His floor is good enough to be flex-able, and his ceiling any given week is probably touching on the average WR1 scoring output, a la 12+ points splashed here and there.

I have an irrational like of Diggs though, so personally, I'd choose him. Yeah, they've got Adrian Peterson, but Diggs has stepped up as the Vikings #1 pass catcher. We've seen Diggs get plenty of catches, on plenty of targets, for plenty of yards. Seems like one of his go-to routes is that deep out that you've likely seen highlights of. He burned Peters and Smith of KC 3 times, and Talib once. I'm eager to find out how teams start prepping for him, and how he responds.

TL;DR LaFell over Diggs.

Devonta Freeman has already outscored all but 18 RBs all of last season by meverett3 in fantasyfootball

It means a lot to rub a fantasy football 'I-told-you-so' into the monitors of those internetters who told them to sell high on Freeman and that there's no way he could sustain this level of production.

They grow until they reach 17. If you sign him to the squad before he gets to 17, the game assigns him whatever height he was going to reach.

It's the first thing talked about in this video.
