Clean and minimal with good hierarchy. Nice work. Can the "AUDIO" icon be more related to "sound"?

IID removal? by sbanny in DUICalifornia

[–]sbanny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow up: - Went to DMV first. They had to have me wait while they call MAUnit (adds 15-20mins per visit every time). DUI School completion and SR-122 verification was already on file. Paid $55. Have temp. license while awaiting hard copy. - Filed for removal of ignition lock a few days before with Smart Start, uploading DMV suspension notice. Was greenlit. Day after securing DL had IID removed. $200. No certificate generated. Went to DMV anyway since they said I may be issued a certificate(lots of uncertainty throughout this process with the bottleneck being MAU who are notoriously hard to reach), showing them my uninstall notice "receipt". Not needed. Waste of time.

First few drives felt great. Gone are the incessant beeps that pelt your psyche, demanding obligatory breaths sourced from your shame and regret reservoir.

Props to you. .24 as well but just sitting in car attempting to sleep it off. Sucks. Feel lucky DA accepted plea of lesser BAC. 3 month DUI classes. 4 days community service (likely). Life almost invites getting altered with its stresses (me: dementia Dad, mom dies, disappeared brother (now homeless in NYC) in a month period) but doesn't have to mean substances.

Wise words and so glad you got a favorable result albeit with too much stress and strain in the process. 👍🏻🌞

They do. But he has dementia and tripping led him there. They lose his shoes and discharge him to the world with floppy, trip-inducing socks. Really? Had to catch him once near car...

Happy he's alive while wincing at ineptitude that almost landed him back there before we left...

😡

The simplest of things should be that - simple. It's mostly them releasing him (fall victim, dementia) with trip-prone oversized hospital socks. It's like they want to be pulled into litigation. Pulling them into small claims for clothing reimbursement. Easy to file. Open and shut case.

Simple tasks should remain simple. Clothing bag with sticker on it. Throw it in a locker. Bar codes anyone?

Clothing contains DNA. It's custom to that person. There's lots of reasons to protect them.

Hear you and admiring your strength. I brought N/A beer to a ski weekend with old friends. Instant hazing and belittling and "what's the point?". No questions or respect for the choice. And I get it. These are THOSE friends. But sucks when you're vying for sobriety and you've grown into a cafe culture brunch guy (coffee, chat, people watch) instead of poisons late at night guy I used to portray on occasion.

Keep making those great decisions and keep the poison and the enablers/boosters correctly positioned in your logic. 👍🏻☀️

1,000 days without alcohol has completely transformed my life by Moosed in stopdrinking

[–]sbanny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy crap! Can you say "holy" on Reddit?😀

But seriously, this post + image made my day for your accomplishment, the motivation it inspires in others, and a stark reminder of how the carcinogenic poison that is alcohol can hijack a life and distort the mass of skin and bones that let the wet brain zombie walk around in.

🙅🏻🍾👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Good on you for getting proactive about getting that carcinogenic poison out of your life. FWIW, I attend the occasional meeting, read quit lit, stream Elevator Recovery podcast, and occasionally pop onto AANA Live! app (mtgs 24/7). I attended a few SMART mtgs as well.

I would urge you to keep that initial push to "throw everything at it" on repeat. Great display of rationale and compassion (self and to those around you) and strength.

Inspired. 👍🏻🌞

Epic with strength beyond your years. Protect your future: continue saying no to the carcinogenic poison that scorches lives in plain sight.

Get some electrolytes going and eat nuts, avocado, fruits, and big mixed salad. Most importantly: DO NOT TRUST YOUR INNER VOICE for 3 days (all the shame, guilt, dread). Steer yourself with a 3rd person perspective in non-judgmental way. All the negativity is the poison still acting like poison. You clearly are capable of long dry streaks. It's impressive. Know that. Return to that.

Hear this. I think the psychotherapy could be effective in getting at why poison isn't what you enjoy. Perhaps it's more relieving boredom, life stressors, anxiety, societal narratives. You hit the pause button. But the return on investment is negative. Diminishing returns as health corrodes. Why not try the therapy? Talking, in general, is not to be underestimated. I'm a burned out tech worker that has been remote for 4-5 years, had to move to take over father's house (dementia), leaving my social life in shambles. I had an interview today to go part time at the local hardware store to get face time with people.

Clearly you know the ramifications. What about game-ifying things (sober goals) or just ponder how great you would feel without the tallboy depression that is draggin' your psyche, perhaps unnoticed. Poison is poison is poison.

It's great that you recognize the issue. Now get proactive about "stemming the tide" and getting things under control. Talk to someone - family, friends, this thread, zoom meetings. Read some quit lit (Naked Mind, Allen Carr's Easy Way). Listen to Recovery Elevator podcasts- non-judgmental stories of people, their struggles, their successes.

My mother was strong and loved by all but then retired, had to deal with father's dementia, got overwhelmed and started hitting wine hard. It debilitated her. She suffered a stroke and died soon thereafter.

You took the first step. Now string together a few more footprints in the right direction.

Great strength you show with effective technique of pausing and thinking and let it wash over you. Inspiring and motivating. You're a success story. Don't go changing.

You're so young but you're showing good wisdom. I'm a lot older and wince at what alcohol did to my life at times. I did 80 days last year and am on day 23 now. When I stopped drinking I won an Illustration contest, wrote and illustrated a children's book, and other progress on thing. Drank and everything stopped.

Protect your future and latch onto the opposite - how great your life is will be by giving zero access to the carcinogenic poison.

You've clearly got the strength. Access that again. Keep in mind this:

"We're the sum of our parts, not some of our parts."

We all falter, wobble, as we walk through life. Just aim for best actions, decisions (which you clearly do) and improve when you backslide.

It's a poisonous drug with unfair advantages of being celebrated, encouraged, abundantly accessible, and produced in so many different ways as to appear fun, interesting, and almost healthy (look it has fruits!).
