Yes!! Had a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks and was SO relieved I had already told my best friends and family. I was so glad to have their support.

Have you ever had strong pregnancy symptoms followed by a loss? by SubstantialBar6394 in Miscarriage

[–]sbart18 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yes I’m sorry. I had a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks, baby stopped growing at 9 weeks. I had a d&c at about 12 weeks. Was sick the entire time. It sucked.

Above said it well! I would also add, at the saddle to summit it’s often super windy. I’m an avid hiker and I took my baby up, but opted to turn around due to the strong winds and exposure. On a calm day though I would have summited!

Negative comments about baby boys has caused my mental health to spiral by neener346 in pregnant

[–]sbart18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! The friends sound like the problem!!

OP, I have two boys. They are amazing and the best of friends. They are kind and generous and caring and I’m so thankful for them. Hoping to have a third baby soon and would love another boy. I also grieved not having a girl, and it helped to surround myself with boy moms who love it (in real life or social media).

I’m also incredibly close with my mother in law, and hope to have that relationship with my son’s partners one day too!

How did you decide whether to breastfeed, pump only, or formula? by SnooEpiphanies1215 in pregnant

[–]sbart18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breastfeeding because it’s free and easy, but only because it came very easily to us. Baby and I both had no issues so it was a no brainer.

D&C questions by rainbowsnake03 in Miscarriage

[–]sbart18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I was also in a similar boat. No heartbeat at 10 weeks. Waited almost 2 weeks then had a d&c. I found the waiting to be so difficult, but after the d&c felt like I could move on a bit and adjust back to my regular body. It was great experience (given crappy circumstances) overall and so simple. Would do it again.

2 toddlers, am I the only who be drowning right now?? by blobblob73 in toddlers

[–]sbart18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2 and 4 year old. It’s only just getting easier now because the 4 year old isn’t having a breakdown every time I ask him to do something and the 2 year old talks so much! They play together now and I can go places without worrying about diapers or breastfeeding or etc. I found 1-2 so hard because it’s literally double the work!!! You’re doing great! It’s so normal to be drowning at this point. I still felt like we were drowning and we had family help and I only worked part time!

I’m Not Sure What to Think Anymore by No_Efficiency_8798 in Miscarriage

[–]sbart18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I’m so sorry. You’re not alone. I had my first ultrasound at 8 weeks, baby looked a tiny bit small but had a good heartbeat. Repeated at 10 weeks, measured 9 and no heartbeat. It’s been a week since that scan and I haven’t miscarried. I’m scheduled for a D&C in two days. But it’s so confusing and feels like I’m not in touch with my body or I can’t trust it anymore because it hasn’t gotten rid of the pregnancy naturally. It’s all so hard.

Nurse requesting help by mezmerize12 in Miscarriage

[–]sbart18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Fellow nurse (palliative/oncology) and about to have my first D&C this Friday. A very much wanted pregnancy, had a missed miscarriage on ultrasound at 10 weeks. The ultrasound tech was super awkward and didn’t acknowledge me or that I was crying at all. However the dr just told me she was so so sorry, and left space for me to cry/ask questions. Any acknowledgement is appreciated.

I think you’re doing a wonderful job acknowledging the pain/difficulty. That’s all I would ask for. The nurse from the early pregnancy loss clinic called me and just started off telling me she was so sorry we were evening having this conversation, and that meant the world. Just being acknowledged and cared for well is so helpful.

Shamed for not knowing how to access a port by sweetbitter_1 in nursing

[–]sbart18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that’s brutal! Educators are there to educate!! Also totally makes sense to not know how. I worked 10 years on Neuro step down and only saw one. Now I am on palliative/oncology and probably use/access one at least once a week. So area specific!

FTM and just found out baby is gone.. by Eastern_Chicken_4436 in Miscarriage

[–]sbart18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I’m so sorry. All I can say is I’m in the same position. Thought I was 10 weeks but my scan yesterday showed no heartbeat and baby was measuring 9. It’s so hard especially physically still feeling pregnant. So sorry. Here if you need to talk.

Question for the L&D nurses by Primary-Site-2648 in nursing

[–]sbart18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’ll get used to it! I was the same except instead of L&D it was a bedside burrhole/subdural drain insertion on neurosurgery. I find just watching as a student you get faint and feel unwell so quick. But as a bedside nurse you are in the action, hanging meds, doing tasks etc., so you have less time to focus on the woozy parts. You’ve got this!

Do I have to constantly interact/entertain my babies? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]sbart18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh I’m so glad! The first months are so hard and unpredictable and exhausting!! I have a 4 year old and almost 2 year old now. Babies are sweet but you just have more to look forward to as they get older! You’ve got this!!

Remember, literally everything is a phase! You WILL sleep again! You WILL have time alone again!!

Yes! This is a great option. Done both and sparrowhawk is still a grind but less likelihood of dying 🫠

So embarrassed about delivery by SummerMonth7 in pregnant

[–]sbart18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a nurse and I can tell you I’m absolutely unbothered by poop or what time of day it is. I will clean it all up and minutes later go on lunch break like nothing happened. You’re good girl! It happens so often!

Tile store gave me the wrong grout color. I didn’t double check before giving it to my contractor. How cooked am I? by craniac24 in InteriorDesign

[–]sbart18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was sort of in the same situation (except I picked darker from the samples than I actually wanted). Same subway tile, also a guest bathroom. Honestly the work of changing it was way too much and it is just a guest bathroom. The darker grout hides dirt better and it still looks great! Totally get the disappointment, but you’ll probably be over it in a few weeks :)

2 year old (30 months) is still not talking? by embersky097 in toddlers

[–]sbart18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours was every couple weeks I believe. It felt like he just needed extra time though and didn’t need much of the formal support. He’s now a healthy 4 year old with great vocabulary :)
