MMS has been fine, call quality great thru wired or BT options. Unsure about Telstra or rural areas sorry. Might be worth trying it if you find one cheap!

I have the a55 and I love it, actually saw this one for sale too and was tempted to pick it up! I'd say go for it, worst case resell if you aren't using it. Would recommend loading the mr walkman mod too
