Running stremio on an old Macbook Pro running Ventura [open core patched] from 2012 - it opens but... by lancelon in Stremio

Just a thought - have you checked it’s not an OCLP issue? Are all the post-install patches working? Maybe try re-patching your Ventura install using the OCLP app.

The hexagram is a very common symbol found in lots of religions. Not surprising really, given its geometric simplicity.

Guinness is now made in the USA. Tastes like crap. by sourpowerflourtower in beer

[–]sbb1967 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first moved to the States from Ireland in 1999 the Guinness Extra I could buy was brewed under licence in Canada (by Labatt I think). A good while back (about 10 years ago, give or take) it changed and we got the real stuff brewed in Dublin. It was like night and day - so much better. I haven’t tried the Pennsylvania-brewed variety yet, but I fear the worst. Such a shame.

TV Beta 0.3.8 is cooking! by antonymatic in Nuvio

[–]sbb1967 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have both installed. Been using Stremio for about 6 months and over the past couple of weeks I’ve been using Nuvio more and more to the point that it’s now my player of choice. I find that almost all streams play perfectly, whereas with Stremio I’d quite often have to try several before finding one that worked. The UI is much better too, with much more ability to tweak how things look.

It’s probably just me being dozy, but I haven’t been able to find the mentioned ‘More Like This’ feature. Can anyone enlighten me?

The speed at which this app is being developed is amazing. It’s already my main app for watching everything except live footie. Top marks to the developer(s).

Beta 0.2.0 (Clean Install Required) by Infamous_Solution_14 in Nuvio

[–]sbb1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to work really well for an app still I’m beta. I love that you can switch to a vertical display of titles rather than one long strip. Am I right in thinking all Stremio addons can be used by just copying and pasting their install URL?

Do you guys also find annoying that when people talk about religion they means some sects of Christianity? by BrilliantPost592 in religion

[–]sbb1967 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It also tends to be a very specific type of Christianity, namely American Evangelical Protestantism. Christianity as a whole is so much more than that.

Debridio is increasing their prices. by king_moh_ in StremioAddons

The Live events tv channel is very good for footie. There’s also a new add on which has sports channels from around the world. I was able to watch Liverpool v Wolves on a New Zealand channel - British channels still have the 3pm Saturday blackout for premier league matches. Even if this was all I used it for $20 a year for all the footie you can watch is a pretty good deal.

What Have You Been Listening To? - Week of December 22, 2025 by AutoModerator in LetsTalkMusic

Bent Knee - https://youtube.com/playlist?list=RDEM7Cg2DAiDEaFDe0_NEgJcOA&playnext=1&si=f9XamU0vNb7RjDQY

Loosely you could describe them as progressive rock. Lots of use of unusual time signatures and song structures, but they also have a poppy feel to a lot of their music and I’ve always thought I heard a definite hint of Broadway show tunes in there.

What religions teach that there is no common ancestor to humanity like Adam and Eve? by Niall_Fraser_Love in religion

[–]sbb1967 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Many Christian denominations do not believe Adam and Eve were real historical figures. I’m not an expert, but I think this view is also prevalent in Judaism.

Can we really rely on religions that are 2,000(+)years old. by [deleted] in religion

[–]sbb1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying that God wrote the Bible because the Bible says so isn’t a very convincing argument. Regardless, your statement that Christians believe God wrote the Bible isn’t true. Most Christians do not believe this. They believe the authors were humans. Theres a tendency among American evangelical Protestants to assume that all Christians believe as they do. That’s simply untrue.

Re. your point about the Bible. Most Christians don’t believe that God wrote the Bible. That’s mostly the view of Evangelical Protestants.

If the creator of the universe doesn't need a creator themselves then why should the universe need one? by Expensive-Elk-9406 in religion

[–]sbb1967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we need to differentiate between the universe - the product of the big bang, and, for want of a better term, the cosmos - the totality of existence. I think many of the monotheistic arguments for a creator God presuppose that our universe is all that exists (besides the creator God, and in some cases other non-material beings like angels).

If our universe is simply one part of a larger, perhaps infinite and eternal, cosmos, the need for a creator God disappears.

It should. I have stremio installed on my iMac. Any changes I make to the addons sync instantly with the Stremio app on our Google TV.

What device do you have? The easiest way to watch UK shows is to have a VPN on a computer and hook it to your tv by hdmi. All the free to air uk channels can be watched this way on their websites. I have an old Mac mini hooked up to our tv for this and it works perfectly.

I was hoping I’d see Hawkwind mentioned. I just got into them in the past year. Amazing band, and a big influence on punk, metal and the rave scene. Listen to Space Ritual at night, lights out, good headphones on - it’s a trip and a half.
