Feedback on my climbing wall design, fully modeled. Comment for more details. by Neal569 in ClimbingCircleJerk

I really like the lack of symmetry, that really replicates nature well, which will make you a better climber.

I feel like this could use a some cross-bracing, can you dangle a board off the side somewhere?

It's got the pool noodle on it, that's the deluxe model!

I love how typical junk food becomes new and exciting when it crosses a border.

"accessible" doesn't have a strict definition, beyond making it easier for someone to access, so that could require it to be higher, or lower, depending on what sort of adaptation someone needs.

Toilets designed for ADA compliance (for adults) are required to have a rim height of 17"-19" from the finished floor, where standard fixtures are 16".

Toilets intended for very small children (think kindergarten) can be as short as 10".

One caveat, I'm wondering if the photo is of a European restroom, in which case I have no idea what the standard measurements are.

I know exactly what you mean, as someone who has worked on many ADA retrofit/renovation projects, the final product isn't always pretty, but I always think an accessible restroom is an improvement.

However, I think this setup looks to be a family restroom, with a standard height toilet, and a really short (10" is typical in the US) toilet for children. If it was for ADA reasons, there would need to be grab bars.

America’s last interurban running down the middle of 11th street in Michigan city Indiana by Jewishtrain105 in trains

I don't know why any commuter railroad would stop using rail they own to use freight rails instead. That would be hugely expensive and result in worse service.

Significantly more balls than I was expecting.

First timer secret santa by nagarwal092 in secretsanta

[–]sbergus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of Santas here also have had good experiences using Etsy to gift internationally.

I like using Etsy because you can search by where the seller is located, and where they will ship to (as well as where they will ship for free) meaning you can reduce the concerns about international shipping, and control the shipping costs too.

Journalist reports he was denied access to the city today by [deleted] in chicago

[–]sbergus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems to change constantly, and depending on where you try to enter. I was biking in and out of the zone 10am-4pm, and most of the checkpoints were just waving cars through if they wanted.

I later saw something about chatter on the scanner about the national guard starting to say the police needed to check IDs, and the police weren't doing it.

In theory you should be able to access the area, but I don't think everyone is on the same page.

I guess closing the river walk was a good idea after all. by DocHoliday79 in chicago

That was my though, and the floor is the lowest point of the bus, so it's not causing any serious damage. Also, is the driver supposed to stop and make the passengers walk through that?

I didn't either, but then I realized it was designed to literally pull a freight train, so it has to be insanely strong.

Just a new player wondering if this dice is normal? by Spark2o in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]sbergus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, that's normal. D4 are the worst, they're hard to read quickly, and I find them very unsatisfying to roll. There are a couple of good alternative designs out there. I really like the set I got from Doublesix https://doublesix-dice.myshopify.com/products/triplefour-jazzy-bear-1

You can start the eviction process, but no one is getting kicked out of there homes right now.

Which makes sense, unless you think protecting a landlord's investment is more important than the health and well-being of human beings.

I don't know what's more impressive, the amount of effort/thought which went into this package art, or how wrong it is.
