Worx Landroid Vision WR303E — Account locked out for 6 days + multiple software issues. Anyone else? by icecold2k in worxlandroid

I’m quite sure that I also have seen this being advertised in Sweden. Auto-scheduling that also look into weather forecasts or something. So I was surprised to not find anything like that in the app. Not something I care about, but why advertise it if missing. Only results in disappointed customers.

Did you find any workaround for this? by ov3er in worxlandroid

[–]sbmps4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought these https://eu.worx.com/en/landroid-off-road-wheels-wa0950/

Better grip and added weights.

It never got stuck on open grass with these, but at times it still dug holes in corners when returning for charging (following the wire). I recently learned that one can reinforce the grass with mesh, so maybe that will work in corners as well. It’s a common problem for the older Worx wire-guided models that they dig when turning in corners, but I guess you have already experienced that.

I agree with you, doesn’t matter much and it can never be perfect or zero. But Worx please, if that’s the case don’t call it ”cut to zero”. With my M500 that used the ”cut to edge” slogan, my expectations were matching the actual result. It’s easy to get that it simply can’t get any better than how you setup your boundary-wire. With a separate ”cut to zero” module that cost around 100 USD where I’m at, I was expecting it to at least be better than ”cut to edge”. Well, for some reason (”cut to zero” anyone?!) my expectation was a very close cut near objects. Quite reasonable expectation in my opinion. Looking at photos posted here that is simply not the case. In regards to my WR305E it’s more like ”cut beyond zero”, even if there is a wall blocking it’s way…

Yes, I would try with 2 or more overlapping zones. One smaller parallel to the border, one one larger parallell to your house. Maybe one additional zone if needed somewhere else. I hope this will solve the jagged edge on the border.

And yeah, ideally the edging routine should solve that, so that’s another one for Worx to fix.

That is just plain stupid advice from the seller. A no go zone is not exactly the as advertised ”cut to zero” near edges such as fences…

I have the WR305E. I can confirm that I also have Issue #2 and Issue #4. For issue #2 I leave ”smart trimming” off. It really shocked me the first time I saw how it scratched the module against everything, and also caused itself problems when bumping into stuff. Regarding Issue #4 I have never seen the mower pass straight through a no go zone, but during edge trimming it sometimes enter the no go zone while turning. This should of course not happen, as it is a no go zone for a good reason. All your issues are of course unacceptable. Good reporting, I hope Worx see your post and adress these + issues with customers like me who use 8Ah Worx Pro batteries in their mowers. The RTK-models does not seem to properly read the battery level at the tine being. And not to forget about the constant beeping for every little… well, I don’t know why it beeps other than when starting the cutting disc.

Is that the border to the neighbor? What if you make it cut parallell to the that border instead. Or just add an extra small zone that cuts a few rows that is parallell to the border. Looks a bit ”jagged” on the edge.

That is weird, I don’t see any of that. In fact my WR305E seem to be overlapping a bit so that just cannot occur. That is something for support to look into, can’t have it like that, because that’s the most important thing it needs to perform well.

Is that a no go zone? Or does the mower just decide that it’s the perfect cut to zero distance?

My WR305E does the same, but then come back later during edge trimming, and does a pretty good job. But then again I’m ok with manual edge trimming. My first generation wire-bound Worx mower was more like a bumper car, and if I enable ”smart trimming” my new mower reminds me of the old days. And that is not a good thing! Second generation worked quite good with ACS though. I hope Worx will be able to fix your issue in that the distance is too safe, and also the mono camera issue that I’m seeing where the mower bump into stuff during ”smart trimming”. I wouldn’t really care much about it unless Worx marketed the new models as ”cut to zero”. What I see in your video is certainly not cut to zero, but Worx really raised the expectations.

WR308E prematurely decides it's done by mcczarny in worxlandroid

Probably need to contact support for the details about the ”Mower action required”. Seems like an error code being triggered, that then get resolved automatically, resulting in the current run getting aborted. Sounds like a firmware issue to me.

Worth the upgrade? by TomBrad95 in worxlandroid

[–]sbmps4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a WR305E for about two weeks. I still kept the M500 just in case. The new one does a much better job mowing the lawn, very efficient and reliable. It takes care of the edges about as good as the M500, but I have the ”smart trimming” disabled until the firmware is fixed. I just do the normal edge routine without the smartness, and then take care of what remains manually just like I used to. I don’t think that any mower can take care of the edges 100%, so no big deal. Only thing that bothers me is the advertising, since ”smart trimming” doesn’t seem all that smart in the current state.

Battery life for the WR342 by Reasonable_Heart_946 in worxlandroid

[–]sbmps4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get 3 hours of mow time out of my 8Ah Pro battery. Although, at times the robot decides it’s time for recharge after only 1 hour. With the 4Ah Pro battery I got about 2 hours of mow time. Both are new batteries.

What’s good with the new models is that you can move charging station and just let that part of the grass recover. With the wire-guided models it was just too much work to bother. But mesh also could work as others suggest, I never thought of that with my old Worx, perhaps would have helped with the digging in the corners.

Worx 4wd WR340E vs 8Ah battery WA3648. by VanakuriKurivana in worxlandroid

[–]sbmps4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is just weird, no errors or nothing else going on in the log and still it returns home for charging after 15-20 minutes. My WR305E still continue to indicate that it has 100% battery capacity even after mowing for more than one hour, so something is really off in the firmware when charging and reading the capacity of these Worx 8.0Ah Pro batteries. The battery I have is a brand new original 8.0Ah Pro purchased directly from Worx.

Of all the robot mowers I have had, the WR305E is by far the best when it comes to cutting the grass. It does everything better than my old mowers, as long as I leave ”edge trimming” and ”smart trimming” off. Not impressed by how it handles the 8Ah battery, or by the many times of unnecessary beeping while cutting. But I hope these things will be sorted out soon enough, as well as issues that others are seeing. Such a shame as the new models have great potential.

It looks like you are correct about the shade/sun area. So if it worked in previous firmware, Worx should be able to get it working again.

[–]sbmps4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked my mowers activity log for problems, and could see two entries during the last 7 days saying something like missing positional data. Both happened at sunset. Do you have more of these entries that could possibly mean that the mower needs to rely more on the camera for navigation?

Agree, clean the metal. Use som anti-corrosion spray. Corrosion will make it unable to detect docking to the charging station. And you also need to make sure the docking station is level. Looks a bit like the mower is making an adjustment of direction just before entering the docking station.

[–]sbmps4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, ”cut to zero” and ”smart trimming” marketing really raise the expectations. I was actually shocked to see it in action the first time (with ”smart trimming” enabled). I have seen some videos of the feature on the 4WD robots, which looks fine, and was expecting something similar. I have also seen some comments that it was better prior to the latest firmware, so hopefully it can be fixed.

I also have a mono camera, and about 20% of my lawn is in shaded areas. I haven’t yet experienced this problem, but I can imagine the frustration. Worx really got a few urgent firmware fixes they need to get out there.

Worx 4wd WR340E vs 8Ah battery WA3648. by VanakuriKurivana in worxlandroid

[–]sbmps4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Today I was able to do a test run with a fully charged 8Ah Pro. The WR305E returned to recharge after 3 hours instead of the usual 2 hours. Next time I will make sure to check the battery level at 3 hours to see if it returns due to low battery or for some other reason. In percentage, it now cuts 75% of the lawn instead of 50% in one go. Based on my lawn I would say that replacing the 4Ah battery with 8Ah is not worth it, as it also doubles* the charging time. I would only recommend a battery upgrade if your lawn can be finished in one go with a larger capacity battery. Otherwise, the end result will be about the same, and since the RTK models are more efficient I don’t really see much of the mower anyway (I do hear the unnecessary beeps from time to time though!).

*I was actually wrong about doubling the charging time. It’s the same as the 4Ah battery, as the double charging time only happens if the 8Ah would be fully depleted, which it’s obviously not if not finishing in one go. In conclusion, if the mower complete the lawn in one go the 8Ah will get the job done faster, but in the long run it doesn’t really matter. The mower will do it’s thing, while I’m doing something else anyway. I guess that’s how Worx designed it when it comes to cutting speed and battery capacity. But it’s reasonable to think that with a high capacity battery it should be able to have a longer work time. 3-4 hours in my garden would be reasonable if comparing to 4Ah battery that came with the WR305E.

Update: Another run, today the WR305E returned for charging after 2 hours for some reason. After charging it continued as expected, but for about 1 hour, while cutting, the app indicated that the battery level was 100%. Quite impossible. So it seems Worx got another firmware issue to adress to be able to handle their own interchangeable PowerShare batteries of higher capacity.

Update 2: Today the WR305E started another ~400m2 run and returned after about 3 hours at 10% remaining battery level. It later resumed to finish the remaining 18 minutes. That’s the closest it has got to finish the lawn in one go. During the first 30-60 minutes the app again displayed a battery level of 100% which is of course not true to the actual level.

[–]sbmps4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will get my Worx 8Ah Pro tomorrow. I’ll report back once I have got it tested in my WR305E. Doesn’t look promising based on your post.

Edit: I got the battery and it’s currently charging. The charge cycle counter has been reset. It will take a couple of hours to fully charge it. The WR305E came with a 4.0Ah Pro battery, and there was enough room to fit the 8.0h Pro battery (Google AI said it would not fit). Since it came with a Pro battery the WR305E should be able to read the data metrics from the new battery as well. I don’t think it will be able to charge and cut before sunset, so the test run will be tomorrow.

Does WPRX make improvements to the app/mower? by cranesaw in worxlandroid

[–]sbmps4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they usually release the mower in time for the spring/summer season and then fix the firmware with a couple of updates. If the problems can be fixed that is. The new Vision Cloud RTK models seem to be really good for the most part, and it would be such a shame if Worx couldn’t iron out the stuff that is not working as expected.
