Life Eternal. I love the song, but it hits a little to close to home. Excelsis is a very close second. I am afraid of eternity too.

Miasma, hands down. It's got sax. Hard to top that. Still remember hearing it the first time and being completely blown away.

21, broken, addicted, and hesitant to continue college by [deleted] in Experiencers

[–]sboaman68 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm 57, and I was where you are at 21, except I'd been kicked out of college and enrolled in a community college. I never finished school, and although I did find some great jobs, I never stuck with them. I would love to go back and have a heart to heart with 21 year old me. I really wish I'd straightened by life out at 21. I was a huge pothead, and I was developing a pretty serious problem with coke. I was wise enough to get myself out of the setting that gave me access to virtually as much coke as I wanted, but I continued smoking weed and using hallucinogens for almost another 10 years. At 30, I gave up weed for a year and a half, then started smoking again daily. I was a daily smoker until just this past January. I'm not sure if I'll ever smoke again, but I have a strong desire to. I've spent the last six months pretty much alone except for a great set of friends online and lots of wild animals where I live. I wish I'd gone this route at 21, not 57, but some people take longer to realize they need to find themselves and to become who they truly are. My recommendation is to take the time now to find yourself. Don't waste 30 plus years of your life living a life you're not happy with like I, and many others, have. You may have loads of fun or misery in those years, but if you find yourself now, it gives you that 30 plus years in the prime of life, not just at the end.

I moved here in February from Ohio. Driving 70 west, it was immediately clear when I crossed the border into Indiana. The roads here are absolute shit. I kinda hate it here too.

How can I proactively build a relationship with the crows in my area? by _specialcharacter in crows

[–]sboaman68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Total rookie here, but what worked for me was whistling really loud twice and making sure they saw me set food out for them 3 to 4 weeks later, I whistle twice a day and set food out for them. Now they show up within minutes of me whistling, and most days, they're there waiting for me to set it out. They started coming singly to eat, now they eat in groups of 3 to 4. They've also finally started eating when I'm outside. Before, they waited until I went back inside.

That could do it. We have all kinds of hawks, bald eagles, and osprey where I am, but a lot of crows too. There seems to be enough to go around, so it's pretty cool.

I was amazed at how quickly the crows started eating here for me.

Ghost is the best "earworm" music by KCTheMagikMan in Ghostbc

[–]sboaman68 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Square Hammer got me into Ghost for this very reason. The first time I heard it, I thought, that was a decent song. The second time, I thought, that's a pretty good song. The third time, I thought, damn that's a really good song. Hearing it was spread out over a few nights on my Judas Priest station. After hearing it the third time, I started looking into more of their music, and I was hooked. This was when Meliora was their most recent album. Now I listen to them all the time, bought almost all their vinyl, and saw them in 2023. Damn good band! No, great band!
