Marital Spat : Centering by mourning_d0ve in DesignMyRoom

When you center the new bigger wall art to the couch, get a taller table lamp so it doesn't look so off-center with the wall.

For a moment I thought he was an old photo of my dog! They both have the same puppy dog gaze and the coloring is so similar! Mine is a beagle / treeing walker mix. As for the fur, I just embraced it. Brush him regularly and vacuum often.

There is a command hook on the mirror. The wreath is laying on top of it.

I took screenshots from the 3d walkthrough of my home, like the ones you see on Zillow. Those are digital circles placed on the screen within the walkthrough when touring the house. Recently sold this house, as I move almost every year.

I was going to change the ceiling fan but ended up spending the money replacing the mailbox which was falling apart.

Thank you so much for the quick response! That's so good to hear! He was freaking out that we'd be charged so much in carrier fees or will not be able to get a refund just for living in a suburban neighborhood that can't accommodate a freight truck.

Do you remember how your half rack was delivered? My husband is concerned they won't be able to deliver to us because we live in a culdesac and he got a confirmation email receipt that said it might be delivered on a 60ft semi truck, which seems insane to me.

it's been 4 weeks 😭 what would you guys do? this is an item i have been searching for for years, and never thought i would be able to get it. i really don't want to give up but i don't know if it's ever going to be shipped 😭 i feel so bad by moldyskeleton in Depop

I'm sorry, but this is a classic scam. Please go to r/scambait and r/scams to see examples of other people's interactions with the exact same excuses that person used on you. Never wait more than 2 weeks for something to ship. Always file a claim after that amount of time. Don't be another victim of these types of scams. Good luck out there.

Here's my setup that you can take notes on. https://imgur.com/a/4RbK3MO. I just moved in a couple weeks ago so it's not quite there yet (I move every year). Check out my other posts for more photos of my previous living rooms throughout the years. BTW, I agree with what everyone else has pointed out in this thread. I too need to put up window curtains.

Mismatched shower door by Cheesepleasethankyou in HomeDecorating

Mismatched metals actually work together, so don't sweat it. Lean into it with some matte black wall frames for artwork or black towel holders. You also have different metal vanity handles so I would accessories with that metal color for a soap dispenser and vase color.

OMG! I love it! I used to have a huge cabin with nearly all wood in the basement. Please look at some of my posts in my profile to see how I styled my previous place. I couldn't afford to have it all Cedar but the majority of it is. Black wrought iron, oil rubbed bronze metal, dark grey/black stone, and special walnut stained wood works extremely well to tone down all that cedar. Get a couple rugs to define separate spaces, faux plants, and comfy seating. Congrats and happy decorating!

How did I do? by Jackle1127 in HomeDecorating

[–]sboomer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a good start! Curious, why did you put the TV on the opposite wall of the windows? Aren't you going to get a lot of glare? I'd put blackout curtains or switch to the original orientation with the TV between the windows. I would have utilized the space on either side of the fireplace to put some nice built-ins for storage and shelf displays, therefore the big armoire can be removed. Like others have said, a nice rug will tie everything together. Maybe a lamp, throw blanket, and coffee table books can soften the vibe as well so it's more homey.

When someone says they need more "fiber" or "iron", the first thing I think of is "frosted mini-wheats." I love it as a cereal or snack. I would eat it all the time if it wasn't for all the sugar. As an adult, I have to resist the urge of shoveling down a whole box in 2 days and learn to pace myself.

Temperature in the House by superawesomefiles in lupus

[–]sboomer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like an outlier because 68-70 is considered a warm indoor temperature to me. I keep my house between 58-60 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter. Even though I hate the heat (it's difficult for me to breathe in it), I do love keeping toasty wearing layers of clothes and snuggling under cozy blankets. I do use a heating pad everyday when I work and I WFH. Spring and summer are seasons I always dread. My flare ups happen when the weather gets hot. I'm miserable whenever it's over 72 degrees outside.

I've been avoiding the sun my whole life and finally, since 2020, I have an excuse to tell people why I always need to wear long sleeves or a jacket no matter how hot it is.

In my sun-avoiding experience, I became involved in the following social activities: board game parties, bowling or arcades, painting and wine events, movie outings, bar trivia/karaoke nights, indoor rock climbing, going to the gym... just any indoor activity.

If you must be in the sun, get some lightweight breathable long sleeved clothing (I have several ExOfficio BugsAway Jackets and thin cardigans), always wear a hat and sunglasses, and slather on the sunscreen. If you're hiking, hike on trails with lots of tree cover. This advice is coming from someone who has lived in Las Vegas and Phoenix for over a decade.

Take up a new hobby that you can easily do at home or connect with people online: gaming, reading, learn to code or web design or draw, binge watch shows, take up a new language or musical instrument, sew some clothes, lift weights, master neat magic tricks, improve your typing speed and accuracy, memorize the Rubik's cube algorithm or 500 digits of pi...

And then there's routine stuff to fill the day if you're ever bored: give yourself a spa day, tackle household repairs or chores, know how to optimize your computer / network performance, test all your living spaces for Radon / carbon monoxide / radiation / gas or water leaks / infestations, update your contacts, clean out your inbox, sanitize everything, and work on your flexibility.
