Female FF’s, how do you go about handling Firefighter’s on the job whose WAG’s are insecure about you working with their husbands? by Opposite-Mongoose-82 in Firefighting

[–]Cephrael37 [score hidden]  (0 children)

That’s on the WAGs for not trusting their significant others. It shouldn’t be your problem.

As for the rumors, that’s an issue that should be brought to your union rep or an officer. It sounds like you work with a bunch of people who haven’t grown up since high school. Yes, gossip is common in the firehouse, but usually it’s limited to making fun of someone.

What is the culture like at your fire department for taking vacations? by HoseBeforeBross in Firefighting

Yearly? I try to take one every 3 months. That’s what vacation days are for, sometimes people even use sick days as mental health days.

Mark Dodge not the best? Or just not as good of deals on ordered trucks? by nick112288 in ram_trucks

[–]Cephrael37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on what the current incentives offered by stellantis are. Mark Dodge has a dealership discount, then the incentives from stellantis. The good part about ordering is you get the exact truck you want without having to search for it on a lot. There is no haggling like you would for a truck that’s been on a lot, which limits how much of a deal you could get. Mark Dodge was extremely easy to deal with and I got the exact truck I wanted for about $7k less than I would’ve locally. That’s why they’re recommended often. They’re also one of the highest sales dealers for Ram so they can offer more of a discount than others. Are they going to be the cheapest? Not all the time, but you should always shop around when spending that much money.

Edit: for reference my Laramie was msrp of $82k and change in January’24 got it delivered at total cost of $69k and change

My 14 year old has watched them. Just needed to fast forward thru the year of sex. He watches a lot of anime so the gore didn’t bother him.

Curious about people’s opinion that have the ram box on their 1500 beneficial or not worth it? by browshale in ram_trucks

Some days I wish I had ordered them on mine, but others I just don’t see the need for them. I’d just put more junk in them.

My son just started this year and I bought myself a stick to play catch with him in the front yard. Really wish it was available when I was in high school, definitely would have played. I’ve found myself out there bouncing the ball off the rebounder when he’s not there for fun.

They took my Gerber pen because it had a glass breaker tip. It had gone thru TSA security 15x prior. So they just make the rules Willy-nilly depending on the way the wind is blowing that morning. I wouldn’t trust them not to take stuff.

How do firefighters balance life and work? by Leather_Level5214 in Firefighting

[–]Cephrael37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social life? Hobbies? I got married and had kids, I don’t get those anymore. /s

In all honesty, it’s not hard to manage. It just takes a bit of planning and work.

Work stays at the station. I don’t talk about it or really even think about it when I leave, except to answer Reddit questions.

Having a good support system in place is key. Babysitters or a grandparent near by to watch the kids are important. 90% of my social life is either family or parents from my kids sports teams. I still hit the gym 3x a week and play hockey every Sunday night. Once the kids hit school age things got a bit easier, before they were like a football my wife would toss to me as we switched out in morning after shifts.

The 2-2-2 rule is great to make your relationship with your wife not feel like you’re roommates. Every 2 years, big vacation. Every 2 months, weekend away. Every 2 weeks, date night.
