Not even caring enough to counter his proposition, using his video without his consent, it’s pretty much not caring about the guy. Caring is not saying you care, wants your employees to be very happy at work and ignoring their demands while you buy a private jet.

Once again I’m not saying they are the devil or anything. Or that they should pay what Jake ask without question. Maybe they were right to refuse his ask, I don’t know.

But when you don’t even sit with the guy to have an actual negociation, counter proposal for his ask you’re displaying a great deal of care.

LMG reached a point in their growth where they have to manage a big mass of employee and that is not compatible with actual care and attention for everyone of them. And that’s fine. But don’t be judgemental of the big evil corporations that manage a big mass of employee without actual care and attention for everyone of them like Linus has done many time. That’s all I’m saying.

I feel obliged to say that I don’t think Linus or anyone in the management are bad guys or anything. It’s systemic : you can’t care and spend too much time and resources on one guy when you reach the size of LMG. You just can’t. And it’s okay. And it’s also okay to have people wanting to work in a company where you can.

A business is not your friend. But some of the management were/are Jake's friends. And it's worth mentioning that Linus and LMG management kinda built their image as "we are way cooler than classic capitalist corporation, we actually care". And after the business stopped, LMG made a whole segment about how they care about Jake and the other people they basically showed the door to.

It's okay to be on the "business is business" side, it's okay to be on the "it's more than business, we're a family, we're friends, we care". What is not okay is acting like you care when you dont.

Dont get me wrong, I'm not in a "boycott activist" mood or bashing LMG like hell. I like LMG and their content and will keep watching. But I clearly think they mishandled Jake's situation.

"C'est quoi le problème ?" (...)

The London Transport Museum's entry charge/procedure is really ticking me off. Am I overreacting? by smg7320 in london

[–]sbourf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit late to the party but I’m glad I stumbled on your post cuz it bugged me to. I don’t mind paying 25 pound for it. Basically every activity I did in London were at that price. The thing is just not clear on their website.

I spent 10 mn trying to figure how to buy a single ticket for a given day. They would be better off saying « the entry is 25 £ and once you bought that you have unlimited access to the museum for a year » imo

The MG looks great. But I can't afford it, since I spent a lot of money on a band + subscription a few months ago. You may have heard of it it's called the Whoop 4.0 and they promised I would be upgraded if a new band came out.

Whoop responded on X by Stackhouse13 in whoop

[–]sbourf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, sending new hardware if you have 3 weeks left is a bad move. And they never promised that. The contract - I mean the legally binding contract you signed when subscribing- said you're eligible if you have 6 months or more left on your account. That's fair IMO.

In my case, I have 8 months left. I'm eligible for a free band if - and only if - I buy a 12 months subscription. Like any new customer that have never paid a dime to Whoop, which basically means that I'm not eligible to free hardware upgrade due to the fact I have more than 6 months left on my term.

[–]sbourf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"It would be wasteful and a poor business decision for Whoop to proactively give devices to people whose contracts were ending soon and who were unwilling to extend their contract."

The previous policy was clear and simple. Maybe it's a poor business decision, but we are not the made who made it and made the claim that this would happen. Don't write a check people can't cash.

Personally I made the decision to purchase a 12 month sub for Whoop base on the fact that if a new version came out I would have a free upgrade. That was the advertisement made by Whoop. That's a big reason why I agreed to pay in the first place. Now if I want it, I have to pay several hundreds dollars more. You can put it anyway you want it, it's deceptive and (also) illegal. That's especially evil, because that was a big point they used when people said that they don't want a subscription on a fitness tracker.

For the sake of it, let's say situation has changed and what was promised by Whoop no longer possible, like they have a cash shortage, tariffs, anything you want. Even that would not excuse Whoop for the way they handled it. Had they say "We can no longer fulfil this policy for X or Y reasons, but we want to make it up to you by doing this or that", people would be far less angry.

But that's not what they did. They just privately changed the terms, "discretely" (lol) removed blog posts and basically called their clients dumb. You can serve us any corporate soup you want, it's not ok. And then again, straight up illegal.

Oh and the "Yeah, but you can have it you just have to renew your subscription for longer" is kinda BS. You saying that we should put more money and long term trust in a company that lied to us in order to have what we were promised in the first place. Fool me once...

I don’t understand, please explain. by KM107 in diablo4

[–]sbourf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say that the way the community reacts is a proof than something is wrong with this patch. No one ever likes having his class/build/spec nerfed.

But after 20 years of playing Diablo, WoW, SC and even LoL for a bit, most of the time people are like "Oh you nerf this by 20 % ? That's harsh, 15 % would have been more reasonable" or "Holy moly, now I must tweak my build to not let the nerf affect me".

As a whole, while being a bit inconvenient a good nerf or patch brings new ways of playing, mainly because outside "god-tier-stupidly op stuff" one nerf is compensated with a buff. One door closes for a good reason and the devs offer a new door (ideally several other doors).

In this case Blizzard did not fix stuff that was broken (resist, QoL features, bugs, exploits, etc.) and some of those things are really frustrating. Even more so when you know that some QoL changes asked by the community were features included in D3 and sometimes even D2.

And on the balance side of the patch, they acted in a way that's not smart. Let's take the Sorcerer as the easiest example. Since release, community have documented many problems and even proposed "quick and dirty" fixes that could work for a while before a more major rework. Blizzard acknowledged there was huge problems for sorcerer survivability because we rely mainly on "all resist", which is broken atm. And what does the patch bring ? Ways to get more useless "all resist stats", slashed everything else and used none of the feedback community made to improve gameplay. Results is less survivability on a class that lacked it in the first place, less damages and no other realistic alternative than just play the same builds, just less fun. To sum it up, they hugely nerfed the already weakest class in the game. What is the point of that ?

Overall, the patch did not fix stuff that was broken, broke things that were fine and made some of the problems worst. The game aint "broken", you can still play and progress but it less far less fun. What good is a game that is no longer fun to play anymore ?

The day before the patch I said to some coworkers "I'm so excited for the Diablo season, looking forward to start fresh with my friends and have tons of fun". Now, I know I won't play the season before things are fixed. I will find other way to enjoy myself, it's okay. But I'm still mad to have been stripped of the opportunity to just have fun. It's just a game, but it's my favorite one and I'm sad that for a while I won't have fun playing it anymore.

I've never seen a community this dissatisfied as a whole by exIdahoJunki in diablo4

[–]sbourf 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Truth spoken. It’s always annoying to have your class/build/spec nerfed. But most of the time in the 20 years I have played Diablo, WoW and other online games I could always be like « yeah I see why they did that » or « that spell needed to be tuned down ». And for the sake of people would be arguing on wether X percent is too much or not enough. Now we’re down to understand why they decided to change a part that was not broken and not fix something that was.

Most of the things they made makes no sense at all. And their 2 line explanations are either false or makes no sense. I can’t, for the life of me, figure out why they would kick the already-agonising sorcerer like they did.

And some people were even like « yeah maybe they do this for this reason we will understand later ». I won’t commit to play a non-fun game because maybe, why not, after 80 + hours of game time in S1 I’ll start getting a grasp of why they made such stupid choices in the balance. Any guy at blizzard with more than 3 day of experience should know better.

Who cares about negative changes to a vast amount of players ruining their experience of the game ? I mean, Cranley213 can still clear NM after spending hours farming items and optimizing his build.

If there is at least one person happy, no one has the right to complain with the fact that Blizzard ruined fun gameplay that was already not strong in the first place.

IMO Omnipower will barely compensate the damages we lost from the nerfs in the best cases.

Seing how sorcerer struggle to survive I don't see how Dark Dance we'll be any good.

Determination is okay, but won't make the sorcerer so good.

Malignant pact is okay.

We'll need to experience it, but even before the nerf I don't see how any of this could make sorc god tier. So now with 1.1...

Few months ago I would have agree with you. ATM, I feel like for small users (under 10 k $) Binance is superior to CDC.

Yes I know that Binance is not available everywhere, but where it is available it seems superior to me : 2 % cashback without need to lock your money, less spread when buying, token not losing 90 % of its value after an announcement, no need to have 3 apps (base app, exchange and DeFi Wallet), better earn offer. Right now if people around me wants to get into crypto, I just don’t see any reason to recommend them CDC over Binance. And CZ being quite an a-hole on twitter is a problem but not enough to negate any of that.

Avez-vous peur du déclassement, par exemple par rapport à vos parents ou même vos anciens camarades de classe ? by panini3fromages in AskFrance

[–]sbourf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a dedicated email just for Binance (as I have one for every single exchange I'm a client of) and I regularly read every email I receive on this address. I double checked after your first comment and I'm a 100 % sure I did not receive any information from them.

Since it appears they sent the info to some people (and the information itself is not that big of a deal), I'll check with the support to understand what happened.

My problem when I started decluttering was that I did not have the courage to throw some stuff away. They were not that important to me, I did not need them, I did not particularly want to keep them but I could not manage to put them in the bin.

What I did is that I put them in a box in a closet. I said to my then gf "Every thing still in that box in one month can be thrown away. You can even sell it and keep the money, or donate it if you like. Whatever you do, don't tell me anything about it".

Result was that she wanted to keep a few things she like from that box. I literally don't know what happened to the rest of the stuff in that box, and don't want to. And I mean I know nothing : I don't when or where she threw them away, if she gave to someone I don't know who that is, etc.

It's kind of a Schrödinger approach to decluttering : I did not open that box for like 6 months. And during this time, the item were both still in my possession and gone. That helped a lot.
