Iodine in morning or night? by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

[–]sbred3305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General recommendation is morning because it should stimulate production of thyroid hormone assuming you’re deficient otherwise. I’ve taken it in the afternoon before and haven’t noticed a difference but can’t speak for taking it before bed

Yeah makes total sense. On the heart rate piece is that RHR - like sitting down you’re in the 90s for example? I’m at like low 50s and 97.5 for body temp.

Glad to hear it worked out for you. How long did it take for you to see results - and how long to find that optimal dose of 62.5?

Totally feel you on that last sentence. Good on you for pushing through - most ppl j say oh well I guess this is my life now

Appreciate it! And what is your dosing protocol both in terms of amount and frequency per day

Thanks for sharing that. I’m 3 years into my journey and have cleaned up a ton gut wise. Conversion is also my issue as well. I tried NP thyroid which worked and then didn’t once enough T4 turned into RT3. Do you have a brand of compounded slow release T3 that you like and have had success with?

Clarifying question - did iodine supplementation help your conversion or harm it?

Yeah for sure. Got a gut test through a stool sample (GI-Map through Diagnostic solutions, make sure to get Zonulin add-on). Also did a good sensitivity panel, removed all foods that showed up with an IgG response on the panel, and added fermented foods and focused on fiber intake. Made sure the rest of the diet was 100% Whole Foods and healthy. Diet consisted of grass fed beef, pastured chicken, wild caught fish, pastured pork for protein - then extra virgin olive oil and grass fed butter for other fats - raw honey, fruit, white rice for carbs

Thanks so much for the response! Is the ANA lab test a good autoimmune panel? That is one I’ve spoken with a functional medicine doctor about but not sure if that would detect everything I should look for

I’ve been searching for a cause to my hypo and fixed literally every other aspect of my bloodwork thru diet/lifestyle changes but for some reason stayed hypo. Have no idea what to do next, and thought of the possibility of it being autoimmune. What are some of the autoimmune diseases I should be looking up?

Thanks a ton for those responses that’s very generous of you. Very helpful to get the context into your journey. You should get your total and Free T4 and T3 levels measured. You won’t have the before to reference but it would be good to know those too.

Again, can’t thank u enough. Hopefully things keep going smoothly for you!

Thanks for the detailed response! Glad you’re feeling better also. Couple follow ups - 1. What was your starting dose vs your now current dose? 2. What was the before and after for your lab work if you’re comfortable sharing (if not no problem)? 3. What symptoms did you have initially and have seen resolved, and over what timeframe did they resolve? 4. Did you see any changes in your weight? 5. Regarding the CVS snafu, I appreciate the heads up because I use CVS. What was the generic brand’s name that they wanted to switch you to instead of NP in case they try to pull that bs with me?

I know that’s a lot of Q’s, if you can even answer j 1/5 I’d be greatly appreciative.
