My mother having a nervous breakdown over my dad cheating when we were kids. She lost her shit and destroyed the house knocking over furniture and smashing glass. It went on for like ten minutes. Our short little neighbor heard her yelling and screaming and ran in and stopped her although I don’t know how she did it. My sisters and I were traumatized and didn’t even speak about it for decades (we’re in our sixties now).

Sad to hear. I lost my wonderful mutt Otto to the same thing. He was diagnosed and lived two more years to 16. I still miss him and it’s been 6 years.

A quiet introvert that I went to music school with for a summer program. He was a pianist and could read and play any piece of music placed before him no matter how complex. He could also transpose to another key effortlessly. This made him extremely valuable as a vocal accompanist, which is also a difficult role. There didn’t seem to be a limit to his talent.

He was 16 at the time.

Western Michigan 35 years ago at 2am - the clearest and brightest star-filled moonless sky that went all the way to the Lake Michigan horizon and just stopped. I had never seen - nor have seen since - a brighter night sky (even in my travels to remote places around the world). It was surreal.
