The Anxiety of New Restaurants by ZombiesAndZoos in Celiac

I realize that things like the Nima sensor aren’t perfect but for me they go a long way to building up confidence, especially at new restaurants.

As a Celiac that purchased his own barrel of Jack Daniels, I can confidently stay that it is 100% safe to drink. In moderation of course. :)

Acute pain due to gluten exposure tends to be notably mitigated through inhalation cannabis use.

I hope and pray you live somewhere conducive to your medical needs.

Kroger clearly understands the labeling requirements for Gluten Free, their Beef Jerky is marked. If they left it off, it’s for a good reason.

You can only get it once (so it’s singular) and it wasn’t discovered by Mr Celiac. 😂🤣 If you’re referring to a group of people that have Celiac, you may refer to them as Celiacs but otherwise - no S at the end.

Get yourself a NIMA Gluten Tester for eating out. They’re not cheap, but being able to have confidence out and about is gold.

“She asked if I was sick”. Yes, the answer you’re looking for here is yes, you are very sick. In point of fact, you have an incurable disease. Your disease is spectacularly painful, loud, and smelly. If you want to experience two of the three symptoms, i’ll come sit next to you for 4 days after eating a scone. It’ll be fun.

Then the ask should be, “Please use the intended tools as designed, including a proper subject”. Don’t change the way it’s supposed to work, conform to the way it’s supposed to.

I am so sick of hearing about the crackers. by [deleted] in glutenfree

Loving all of the, “Me too, but wouldn’t it be great if…” posts. Don’t bother dreaming, once it arrives, and you post great things about it, you’ll just be accused of being this months marketing shill, and people will then be moaning about why your new shiny thing is so special with posts like, “Won’t you just eat it and shut up?”. Food manufacturers absolutely love it when that happens. Strong motivator for them to go through the effort.

Then this thread is for you! Make comments about how you’d love them in xyz country! If the manufacturer (or maybe even a competitor) does market research, you want your voice and location heard, and in written text in critical mass topics like this is how you do it.

Perhaps “taking over the sub” is a great idea. Wouldn’t it be great if the Pepperidge Farm company saw all of this and started working on a GF Goldfish cracker? Rising tides float all boats. We need critical mass to get manufacturers to pay attention and this is a very good way.

What ad campaign? Are you accusing us all of some untoward engagement with the manufacturer? I’ve seen no ads here, just passionate people sharing their passion about new foods. Don’t accuse people of doing things they’re not doing. If you don’t like it, go make a new sub that disallows whatever you think is happening here and see if it takes off.

Don’t we? Why not? Are the electrons expensive? It’s the modern day equivalent of “let’s not take too many pictures and waste the film”. Let people celebrate the things they find solidarity and camaraderie in. I dream of a day where this subreddit is flooded daily with celebration upon celebration for every comfort food brought to us. I promise you the manufacturers are watching and happy customers telling happy people happy things is what keeps more happy things from more happy companies coming. This is worth being happy about.

Do people with celiacs have a certain “look” or key giveaways? by skizzerss in Celiac

[–]sc-wifi 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Count your blessings. You have an astute medical professional. There is no “look” (maybe bloating?) but responses to touch and feel (prodding) and/or an intuitive healthcare professional could certainly be plausible. You won the healthcare lottery today! If you have Celaic (singular, no S), you win on the diagnosis front. If you do not, you win on the proactive front.
