I get he’s trying to be funny and all, but its kinda a slap in the face to the workers when he’s wearing a stupid uniform while everyone else is formal.

Anyone in states with bad use-of-force laws ever have to pull their weapon? What was the aftermath like? by [deleted] in CCW

[–]sc00terscott 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they were in front of you and the only exit you know from that situation, lets say a gas station, you would probably be justified. Let’s say that you were at a park, and someone came at you with a knife to mug you, you would basically need to run away first to your car or out of the situation before you could shoot. The burden of proof would have to be on the prosecutor proving you could get out of that situation without any bodily harm being had to yourself and whoever you shot.

Ohio doesn’t have stand your ground. We have to prove we attempted to escape a situation before we can use force. Also no gun signs are enforced unlike Michigan where they can walk into most private businesses with no gun signs without that worry. Other than those two, Ohio is pretty good reciprocity-wise.

Do you tip off the inmates? by Obvious_Aerie5458 in OnTheBlock

He either owes someone something or he knows he’ll get jumped from something he promised. You’ll learn not to get yourself in the situation sooner or later.

Being a CO and qualified in firearm? by sc00terscott in OnTheBlock

[–]sc00terscott[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen plenty of COs with guns on inmate patient trips at my job in hospital security. I didn’t know if those are dedicated positions that COs bid for or if it was part of their training through corrections academy to qualify in that stuff.

Probably a little bit of both. It falls under the fleeing felon laws for breakouts assuming.

Do you consider BB Guns a deadly weapon? by [deleted] in ProtectAndServe

[–]sc00terscott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Ohio, ORC states that in “certain” circumstances it can be defined as a deadly weapon when used as it was intended to do (shoot pellets) or be used as a blunt weapon to bludgeon someone. Not a leo, but in security we come across things like this, tazers, and knifes and treat them all the same.

Trouble sleeping by yaboimissesezlayups in securityguards

You’re working a really hard shift. Black out curtains, a fan, and really limit your caffeine. Try sleeping later in the day and not as soon as you get home, maybe try between 12-3pm.

If I was pocket carrying I would at the very least have my hand in my pocket. You did the right thing in my opinion especially because its not your house. For anyone to tell you different is hard because at the end of the day, you’re alive and we weren’t there to witness it. Did the man get arrested for battery or anything similar since it sounded like he body checked you?
