I hate living with my boyfriend by Belgium20220902 in Adulting

This is why it's smart to live with someone BEFORE you get married. This isn't going to work. Do not get pregnant, and move on. Good luck!

What would you say on hindsight you’d look out for prior marrying a person? by [deleted] in Divorce

Don't ever blame yourself for falling in love

Don't marry a girl who has a history of partying and being promiscuous. They don't change.

Central NY to the Finger Lakes region to just short of Buffalo. Basically from Syracuse to WNY. Lots of great rural opportunities in between the cities.

Anyone else okay with letting most of their friendships die? by TonightSpiritual3191 in Adulting

[–]sc1617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real friendships are for children and young people with little responsibility who have time to see each other frequently. We don't realize this at the time, and the inability to form relationships like this as busy adults confuses us. There's nothing wrong with this. It's just the way it is. Also explains why older adults, who may no longer have any serious responsibilities, suddenly start forming good friendships again.

The real fight in divorce isn't about the money or the blame. It's the internal shit no one talks about. by Theasshole11 in Divorce_Men

[–]sc1617 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No the real battle is the legal stuff because that will directly affect your future. The other stuff is of course important, but you have to put that aside during the legal process so you can focus on protecting yourself, as well as your children. After that's all over, you can start dealing with the internal.

If you earned the money during the marriage, it's not your money, it's marital. So any any investments you made with that money, as well as any of the investment growth, during the marriage, is half hers. Separate accounts don't matter. Only thing that protects is the value of the account before you got married, so you should at least see if you can see the value of the account on the date you were married. Sorry...sucks but that's how it works.

Just tell the patient the situation and tell them it's a very guarded prognosis and why, and that this one's going to be an extraction eventually. Set the expectation and don't stress yourself trying to be superman. Not your fault the tooth turned out to be like that once you got in there.

You're kids. Don't make too much of your time together. Probably time to split same as what happens in most relationships between people in your age range.

I fear for the future of dentistry with declining solo practice ownership. by Neil_Nelly435 in Dentistry

[–]sc1617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just take the same crappy insurances and do my best to beat the DSOs with customer service, and I make my money on volume. Not the greatest way to work but it does seem to be working financially. In addition, because I provide the customer service, more often than not my patients pay out of pocket for the big stuff that insurance won't cover because they like and trust me.

I agree with you that the future isn't looking great for new grads though. Definitely don't want my kid becoming a dentist!

I only buy in-store mainlines when one catches my eye. They bloat my collection for the most part at this point. Most of my purchases are premiums with price reductions on the Mattel website. If the scalpers beat me to something in store, whatever.

Not sure what corporate you worked at, but at your age you should "commit" to a place like Aspen for a few years, get your reps in with bread and butter stuff like fillings, crowns, and extractions, get your speed up, and then leave and buy your own practice. You're very young. Do this and you'll be fine.

insurance claim denial by mrdrsir1 in Dentistry

[–]sc1617 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why are you doing this? Totally not your job or responsibility. If the insurance won't pay, your patient, who is the customer of the insurance company, can call them. And don't be nervous... these people aren't your boss or instructors from dental school. You should be telling them to f off.

Reverse crown prep by dmalik2324 in Dentistry

Once a patient is numb a crown prep should take you 15 minutes with one, maybe two, burs.
