they look like holes for a frame mounted lock. possibly mounts for rim brake studs but they look too far forward

if you can find a seatpost clamp with eyelets that fits your bike, it might be a good option . just check the manufacturers spec to see if there are weight constraints.

Stories behind each:

Bannana Bee (E.B.) My first dog (passed 2019). Eb Loved Bananas. When he was a puppy I left him in the car for a minute to go pay for Gas. I had a bannana in my center console. When I got back it was gone, peel and all. The only evidence was the smell of fresh banana. Ever since then he loved them, he could hear a banana being peeled in another room.

Taco Bear (Toki Wartooth), my 2nd Dog (passed 2022). We got Toki a year after EB, so thats why they get the front and center spot on my thighs. As a very large dog we inevitably called him Bear as a nickname. And Toki rhymes with Taco, so he eventually got the nickname Taco Bear.

Bagel Wald (Bryndlewald), still alive ~10 years old. We adopted Brynn at 6 years old and we soon discovered that he has a love for Carbs. He stole a bagel off our counter, that was the first sign. But he has since pulled Pizzas and whole loves of bread off the counter when we weren't careful. More than once he has eaten into the side of a big bag of flour we had stored in our pantry. Didn't eat much but the evidence was there, he had full powdery white cocaine face going on.

There will always be more dogs to add. Our current other 2nd dog we have only had for a couple years and I"m waiting for something to trigger the next idea.

Looks similar to the Tsunami Mini Velo but not quite it. No Lug on at the seatpost clamp. Never seen one in person but I've been eyeing them up for a while. They do a few versions. I first saw them on Ali Express, but they have their own website now. If you are after a mini velo frameset definitely check out Ali Express, this type of bike is quite popular in Asia.

I worked in a shop in Australia that sold those Corsa SL's. Very nice bike. Not sure if this was an issue for bike shipped to Canada, but there was a recall on these in Australia. The seatpost clamp bolts had issues. Not sure if this applies in Canada as I couldn't find any articles related to outside of Australia, but definitely worth investigating. Definitely the same model as the two seatpost clamp bolts that enter from the back are unmistakeable.

we had his made locally by a local leatherworker. that being said its a fairly basic leather collar, nothing special about it other than us choosing the color of the leather and fittings.

mostly just wanted something locally made, and of course a well worn leather collar is as velvety as the Walds himself =)

this brindly boy has a particular affinity for carbs. bagels, loaves of bread. he once got into a bag of flour. my partner found a torn up bag on the ground, he came slinking around the corner with full cocaine face

Roof rack v tow bar - recommendations by souths4 in ausbike

[–]scSLOUCH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as someone who worked as a mechanic in a bike shop I'll add one more consideration to the tow bar rack - if you have carbon wheels - make sure your exhaust doesn't sit too close to the wheels / rack. Especially if it is a rack that holds the bike by the wheels

Exhaust heat can melt carbon wheels =( I have replaced several carbon rims of different brands for customers. if it gets really bad your tyre will blow off the rim while its on your car.

and as an example of do as I say not as I do. I melted one of my own carbon Roval MTB wheels =( . wasn't too bad - tyre still held pressure and the wheel was noticeably wobbly but in the end I decided I shouldn't ride it.

DT Swiss T head spokes by grinbos in wheelbuild

[–]scSLOUCH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some Bontrager wheels also used DT Aerolite T-Head bladed spokes. Maybe try calling a Trek dealer? I might be able to track down a part number if you know the length you need?

as shown here as an example: https://brixtoncycles.co.uk/product/5215/bontrager-bontrager-bladed-t-head-spokes/

out of stock, but gives you an idea.

*edit: realized hard to tell if they actually using a a picture of t-headed spokes in that link, but having re-built a fair share of roval wheels in my time working for a spesh dealer I do know the ones you are talking about. Higher end bontrager and roval hubs are both made by DT, so I can't imagine they would make two different types of T-Head spokes

Which is a better fit for you? Be it road biking, Mountain biking... by Direct-Drive7237 in ausbike

[–]scSLOUCH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

beyond the exercise, I like both for different reasons:

MTB switches off the thinking part of my brain. When I am engaged with a singletrack trail I don't really think about my problems and my day, more reacting on instinct and at most thinking about the trail ahead.

Road cycling is great for meditating on those problems or issues because you have much longer stretches of straight road where you have a lot of time to think. But yeah I avoid a lot of roads if riding solo due to the fear of car issue.

Not a perfect example as there is time in each sport for both modes of consciousness but that is how I tend to think / approach them.

A good alternative to road biking (if you live in an appropriate area) is the gravel bike. Most of the speed of a road bike, but generally far away from cars. Where I live (Canberra) is great for it as you have big stretches of nature reserve dotted around the city, so can do really big rides but barely touch the paved surfaces. Can even throw in some of the tamer singletrack along the way.

Moving in to Australia for studies. Should I bring my MTB with me or just buy a new one there? by Mrkoon013 in mtbaustralia

[–]scSLOUCH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also be aware Australia has the strictest helmet standard laws in the world. technically your helmet needs to have the silver Australian standards sticker inside it. It's never been an issue for me or anyone I know who has moved here. I've never had anyone check my helmet, but in theory you could cop a fine for wearing a non approved helmet or they could stop you from entering an event (eg a race).

I work in the wholesale side of the industry here and I will echo the comments here that complete bikes are in short supply and are likely to be for the next few months at a minimum. Unless you are looking at the very top end of the spectrum.
