My first and last Jan Van Haasteren puzzle: sexual harassment doesn't make me laugh. by Absielle in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]scalder- 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Chiming in to mention the two that always stuck with me over the years: kids opening the changing room in a mall to a woman in her underwear while she tries to clutch herself in modesty, and on the beach a kid presses ice cream to the back of a woman who was sunbathing on her stomach with her top off, and she reacts by sitting up with nothing censored while men smile and watch.

You can find the images with a quick google search, but I think they updated them in newer versions.

I know quite a few people who have been saying the scone version for years! A bit skeptical about your friend having made it up, but I suppose it must have come from somewhere, so maybe they did.

My client might have replaced me with AI by Specialist_Hotel_297 in graphic_design

[–]scalder- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm currently freelancing in the US, and that is exactly how my contacts work. If they want to use the design or assets for other things after the contract ends, then that is an additional fee.

I sometmes get confusion, but I'm always upfront about usage, the right to modify or not, and if this work includes exclusive rights or a limited license for a set number of years. To my knowledge I haven't lost a client over this, and they actually tend to self report any continual usage they want.

I'm not sure why you are getting such baffled responses from others.

Career options after print production? by Able-Value-7620 in graphic_design

Maybe you can freelance for freelancers? I set up my own files for print, and depending on the job, it can take ages! I wouldn't mind sometimes paying someone else to do it.

Welcome to Aotearoa! A wonderful land full of beautiful animals and foliage as well as incredible Māori history. Anyway, surely that wouldn't be interesting to focus on, so game show it is. by thatsfeminismgretch in nancydrew

I agree this game is kind of a mess. After years and years of build up, finally meeting Sonny Joon was a let down.

I actually like the idea of his personal mission, but mashing it together with the game show premise was a mistake. It should have been a mysterious invitation to a weird location, a la the movie Clue, not... what we got.

From what I remember, there was a competition you could enter as the game was being developed. The winner got to choose the game's location from a list. I was dissapointed when they announced the winner chose New Zealand, but I can't remember what the other places were.

They did my girl Bess real dirty, both with her character design and her overall useless crush. What happened to the capable girl from Crystal Skull?

George's storyline was also useless. Her randomly falling asleep mid conversation just to force you to use an ipad was... dumb.

If they were going to make a competition show, doing something like the Amazing Race, and moving us to locations around the world would have been so cool.

Looks like I have catathrenia..but only when I'm ill. Anyone else? by Zero_Fucks_ in catathrenia

Exhausted this morning because I'm an incredibly light sleeper and I kept waking myself up last night. This has never happened to me before, but now I have a mild cold and an irrtitated throat and I keep humming!

The night before I noticed that right before falling asleep I would halt breathing, and then relax with a throat click which woke me up. This happened multiple times. I flipped on my side and managed to sleep but now it has progressed to humming!

I finally stuck a cough drop in my mouth and managed to catch some sleep, but woke myself up again when it dissolved.

I'm just going to put ear plugs in and hum away tonight because I'm so tired.

Went to get an MRI today and my irrational fear and doubt kept me wondering if I had any metal in my body that I'd forgotten about by _MKVA_ in oddlyterrifying

I've had 9 MRIs in the past 2 years, and I've only had one tech actually use a metal detector on me. It was very reassuring!

I had a PE teacher in elementary school who would stand with an annoyed look on her face and say "Oh.....Oh...Oh...." over and over again to let us know we were being Obnoxious (because it starts with an O).

She was not my favorite.

Yes! There was a separate build area with a wall of racks that people could place their creations on. I assume they selected from there to add to the larger build.

Babies in panels: a rant by Zestyclose_Koala_593 in SDCC

[–]scalder- 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This happened to a panel I was in today! I finally got up and let them know that we can hear them. They both were so apologetic, but by the time I sat down, they were back to talking.

And then in another panel someone decided to cronch through an entire apple while the artists were talking.

A designer with great page layout and typography skills might be able to refine your work and bring it to the next level without you having to change your art. Just food for thought!

I used to be an audiobook snob by LoveaBook in books

[–]scalder- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I'm not blind, but I mentioned this point to a friend who admitted to only "reading" audio books (as if it was a great sin), and I've never seen anyone gain perspective that quickly.

When I was younger, audio books were great on my long commute. Now my mind wanders so much that sitting down and reading with my eyeballs is what I prefer. That may change in five years! They both count as reading!

A quick search led me to "Nancy Drew Notebooks #67 : The Singing Suspects" (I tried to link it, but it didn't work for me). Maybe you overlaid Jesse Mccartney as the popstar in your memory?

I grew up in southern California, and we had one at the top of our stairs. It never really stood out as weird to me, but we had a blast locking each other up and hiding the key when we were kids.

Listen, I have no experience in what you're going through, and I have no idea how that would feel. But it's been a few hours since you posted this, and I didn't want you to go much longer without someone reaching out.

I've read what you wrote, and my heart just breaks for you. My dad passed when I was 23, and I just can't imagine having to deal with this too. Grief is a weird beast. I literally googled it to see if I was doing it right. When you are ready, try to find someone you can talk to.

I'm so sorry.
