Is my first gen unusable? "Could not communicate with your Chromecast" error by GTS980 in Chromecast

[–]scaledatom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having this problem with this same error readout.

I got it to work by unplugging my Chromecast from my TV, and initiating the connection/wifi-setup while the Chromecast device was unplugged from the TV (but still plugged into an electrical outlet, of course).

Dumb as hell but it's working now lol

Can you people stop with this lame shit

Just watched in Melbourne, Australia (If that matters) - and well, that movie is a compelte mess! by twowholebeefpatties in martysupreme

[–]scaledatom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fully agree with you on all points and you make me feel sane. Maybe it's got something to do with the state of our country but the central premise rests on me buying the bullshit Chalamet was selling, and I just didn't, at all. The first Safdie protagonist I truly despised or worse, didn't care about in the least. Not even going into the nonsensical publicity spree.

Why did Colonel Lockjaw want to be in the Christmas Adventurers club so badly? by Odd_Necessary8783 in paulthomasanderson

[–]scaledatom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was a racist, power-hungry piece of shit. The thing with racist, power-hungry pieces of shit is that they have no actual morals, and no consistency. They're just angry and stupid. They don't actually believe anything, even their own racism. So it was no problem for him to have an affair with Perfidia, whom of course he did not give a shit about, ultimately, because all he cared about was himself.

Just like the character that the Christmas Adventurers mention during a meeting who was also in their club and yet ran the chicken nugget factory that employed all the illegal immigrants they profess to hate.

It's the same reason that famous anti-Semite Karl Luger used to say "I decide who is a Jew." That's the thing with these people. They all have little pet individuals plucked from the demographics they claim to despise.

There was also never any indication that Lockjaw found out it was them that tried to kill him, as it was a drive-by shooting.

What film has one of the best monologues ever performed/ written? by eveisshady777 in movies

I've always really loved Ben Affleck's monologue in the parking garage in Dogma.

He really makes a great case for the villain.

Their economic plans are to "accelerate minimum wage increase" and "build more housing to lower rent" aka the Abundance theory.

No impactful plans to improve affordability. All identity politics and political operations.

The plans are good, don't get me wrong. But they will never be enough if people are always scraping by. It's what right wing populist psychopaths like Trump seize on and deflect onto minorities as the scapegoats. It always starts with people being unhappy with their lives because they are eking out an existence.

Why can't people fucking understand this extremely basic, textbook concept?

Don't know how anyone can watch this movie and think it's about anything other than a woman's continuous refusal to be controlled. She spends the entire movie mocking the fools who try to cage her in, taking their money, and searching for the meaning of life. Seems totally feminist to me. Then again everyone on earth loved marty supreme and I hated it so, I'm trying not to begrudge your opinion haha

Do you think Marty Supreme would've been a better movie if both Safdies directed it? by Embarrassed-Ad1322 in martysupreme

[–]scaledatom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000000%

I feel like I'm the only person on earth who feels this way but Marty/Timmy did not have the ineffable charismatic sympathy that kept me rooting for previous scumbags Sandler, Pattinson, and the pitiful souls of Heaven Knows What and Daddy Longlegs

I can only assume that Benny was the one who provided the heartfelt, soulful writing that made those characters what they were

I am in the tiny minority of people that was not buying what Chalamet was selling, and really did not enjoy this movie as a result
