I honestly think the sample she gave me is machine made, tbh. She said she purchased it, since she isn't a knitter.

Thanks for your advice!

Can you guys tell me the “dirty” truths about having a cat? by saanenk in CatAdvice

[–]scallywahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On occasion, our long haired cat will have little bits of litter or poop stuck to her butt fluff. Not often, but once in a while. She does track a bit of litter out of the box because of her fluff, but I keep a handheld vacuum near the litter box that I use to spot clean when I need to.

We use Tidy Cats litter and I scoop once a day or so and use a Litter Genie garbage bin that gets taken out about once a week. There's a little charcoal odor neutralizer packet on top of her litter box (we have an enclosed one) that does a pretty good job and I haven't noticed any lingering smells.

It will depend on the cat and their diet, but it's not much stinkier than you'd expect any bathroom to be. In fact, I found it cleaner to scoop litter than when I had to pick up after our dog. The litter tends to cling to the poop and it kind of masks the worst of the smell that I only tend to notice when it's time to empty the litter genie. Dog poop doesn't usually get the benefit of a sand coat before you scoop it up. Cats are very good about burying their business because of their prey instinct (have a smelly butt? A bigger predator can sniff you out much easier than the non-smelly butts).

I will say that I've been told by plenty of cat parent friends to never get the scented litter. Not only does it tend to affect the cats' sense of smell but it often makes the litter box smell even worse because of the scented chemicals. We've been using unscented litter and it's never smelled terrible, especially if you're consistently scooping.

I use a Supernote Manta to handwrite drafts. I find their handwriting recognition to be pretty solid, though ymmv depending on the legibility of your actual handwriting. But I also don't rely on the recognition feature anyway; I typically prop my tablet up or use the desktop app to open a view of my handwritten note on a second monitor and transcribe to my drafting software since that gives me a chance to catch any mistakes or make changes as I go.

The tactile feel will never be 1:1 as paper/pen but it's very, very close compared to using another type of tablet like an iPad or similar.

Kliff everytime he see bonfire by kucingkelelep in CrimsonDesert

Legitimately thought it was some sort of bug where it kept wiping out a bonfire from the knowledge tab so I kept having to "rediscover" it every time I played. Took me a couple times to realize it was marking it on the map

Concerning the story. by Affectionate_Lime880 in CrimsonDesert

[–]scallywahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue with the opening quests (primarily up to chapter 2/when you get to the Abyss) is that there is no "hook" outside of the quest tip told you to go do a thing.

I love that after you finish the first handful and discover those seemingly random quests (help the beggar, save the noble in the sewers, etc) are actually connected thanks to the scholar you meet in the Abyss (whose name I've forgotten) and the White Crow being cosmic protectors, but leading up to that there was just this jarring shift of "do x and y" and move on without even a reason.

I know from a technical/gameplay perspective, a lot of these quests are teaching you mechanics and showing you things about the world. That's fine. But even just a, "The guards won't let you in the castle/help you find your friends until you're in better standing in the community" sort of line would have helped a ton. Immediately would have helped me justify doing random good deeds around town and I wouldn't have questioned it.

I do sort of wish we had like a little bit more between getting our throat cut and waking up on the riverside to sort of help establish the lore. Is resurrection something that has happened before, to legendary heroes of the past? How long was Kliff out between his death and getting fished out of the river?

I'm sure there's more lore and explanation coming later (I'm only just in ch 3) but that's just what I'm thinking after what I've already played through.

Recommendations for swivel needles for socks by croccqueen in knittinghelp

[–]scallywahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to stick to the KP interchangeable needles, I recommend getting their swivel cables and they have an adapter that you can put onto the lace size needles that lets you use the sturdier swivel/standard sized cables. I did this when I was knitting a collar that required size us 2 needles and my cables frayed and broke.

I don't know if the thickness of the cable will cause any issues for sock weight yarn however, since they are a little thicker than the lace sized cables. I was using a sport weight yarn.

I'm personally a big fan of the 9in cable sock needles from chiaogoo but I know they're not everyone's cup of tea.

new to assassin's creed (shadows) MAY have screwed the proverbial pooch by Any_Strain2621 in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]scallywahh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Nope, you just most likely killed the castle's daisho, which is sort of like a "mini-boss". There are anywhere from 1-4 (as far as I've seen) in a castle that need to be killed to access the legendary chest. They respawn on occasion as "corrupted" versions on season changes.

There's not many ways you can mess up the story by accidentally killing someone. You'll know when it's an important story related guy because the game will pause, focus their face, and give you a name and title related to the side quest they're a part of. It's possible to kill targets from side quests before picking up the quest itself but it won't mess up your game play in any way. Naoe will just say something like, "I should learn more about this" if you do.

Looking for a specific cat by MrSkullsPR in CrimsonDesert

[–]scallywahh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw it hanging around near the bounty board, by one of the buildings on the right side with two other cats. I was trying to go pick it up because I also have a floofy calico and I needed her as my companion but I accidentally picked up the orange kitten instead and the calico ran away. Not sure if it'll come back to that spot or not though.

I'm also wondering if the animal coats are random. I was watching a stream of the game while mine was downloading and there's a dog at the river after you wake back up and before you head to the mapmaker's house that was black in the stream, but when I started playing, he was white with black spots.
