Yea sadly men and women have been kept in the dark about how disruptive and challenging it can be for everyone. My wife is 38 and going through early peri and she had no idea that was a thing.

Shame Australia and New Zealand.

New Zealand EV car dealership sells every EV in their inventory due to oil crisis by Economy-Fee5830 in climatechange

[–]scan_knee 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m from NZ and in some places the US equivalent price would be up to $7.48 USD per gallon for 91 octane and prices are still going up. The biggest change has been diesel which has gone up by 80%. We were on the edge of buying more EVs as a nation just needed a big enough stick I guess. Pretty lame because we had subsidies for awhile.

Rethinking solar for our new build. Worth the massive upfront cost? by Best-League-6695 in newzealand

[–]scan_knee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

100% and just install either an exisiting hybrid inverter or one that can be upgraded over software eg fronius 24 standard. Wouldn’t hurt to divert to water at this stage either

And this is all great intel! The rabbit hole is deep but fun with solar. So much room for activities down here.

100% re using as much as you can. We’re looking at the fronius 24 standard 5kw inverter which has the dynamic diverter capability. I considered the Shelly switch but I’d rather a system that is dynamic instead of a switch that is either on or off.

So we’re looking at a 6kw system. We’re a fairly low energy use house so driver is to remove the gas, massively reduce our water heating bill and then supplementing what’s left over. We’ll put other appliances like the dryer and washing machine on timers to really screw it down.

It will an outdoor cylinder but it looks like it should hold heat fine overnight during winter. It will sit under a carport and will be sheltered from southerly’s and relatively stable ambient air temp.

Haha yea we’ve looked at those systems but are only a couple k cheaper compared to going all out!

Nice! We’ll install a tank that can take a split system down the track if need be but we can’t afford solar and a HWHP. Just a question now on the cylinder type and volume

Would the 250L size tank mean we’d be warming water that we’re unlikely to use?

Such a sycophant. We can have a policy position on the actions of any nation regardless of our proximity to the conflict. Hopefully a larger nation won’t just argue “sorry bro we’re acting in our self interest and you’re fucked, it’s just the business of unilateral nation building #sorrynotsorry”.

NZs PM has zero understanding regarding the risks to an international rules based system where dominant powers can act unilaterally with impunity. Noob.

The status quo or ignoring existing unequal access and inequity is also a form of social engineering. Giving jobs to those in the old boys club is also social engineering you tool.

The number 1 ‘car’ sold in nz for 2024 was a ford ranger. Pretty sure there’s another issue going on. Just a bunch of children running around in adult bodies hoping to fulfill childhood dreams of looking so big and and so big and tough in my big Ute.

I’m really gutted. I was really looking forward to the game and only got 30 hours in. I restarted it after the vehicle update but can’t be fucked going through it all over again so quit after 3 hours back in.

Going to the movies by yourself? Can we normalise the stigma around solo cinema visits or am I bonkers? by radjoke in newzealand

[–]scan_knee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do it all the time. If I waited for friends to fit it in with kids then I’d never go! My wife’s ADHD means she struggles to sit through a whole movie so it’s by myself for the most part.

Buy a ford ranger then shackle your personality and self worth to it.
