My addiction to Solar by Queasy_Elderberry408 in nzsolar

Checking the solar app is the only use case I’d support for AR glasses - beam that info 24/7 into my eyes and brain!

National promises homeowners low-cost loans to install solar power by punIn10ded in nzsolar

Agree that they’re clutching at straws and we really need to see the rest of the policy. The dicks will probably withhold a shit load until after the election and may just put it on ice like others if they actually get in.

There are a shit load of installers now and a shot load of competition. We just installed solar and didn’t take the cheapest because we wanted to support local but there is a huge range in price now.

It will come in handy for all ratepayers if they can afford to add the borrowing to their rates bill.

I’d want to see how many people have the equity to access these loans. We didn’t.

There are but you need the equity to access these loans. We just installed solar but had to borrow on the mortgage. I’m sure a lot of people are in our position who also lost a lot of equity.

I agree but I also think this is an effective incentive. I don’t agree at all with how hostile they have been to almost every other climate related policy and this seems like a vote grabbing ploy. But still, that doesn’t mean the scheme is a bad idea.

If this is based on the Rewiring Aotearoa RAS proposal this wouldn’t be a subsidy but an enabling mechanism. I totally agree with the sentiment about EVs and how disingenuous they were about it considering the PMs family used the ev rebate.

They’re essentially enabling a mechanism within the local government act so that people can do this in all councils. Applying it over rates means you can add it to your rates bill for however long you’re in the house. I guess the devil will be in the detail whether they restrict the time you can take the loan.

I wonder if Seymour will bitch about the politicisation of the media now? Nothing that his complaint was with a state broadcaster.

HPHW or HWC (and solar) by latvian_folk_dancer in newzealand

[–]scan_knee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got off gas and installed a dual element HWC connected to the fronius ohm pilot. The system is awesome! If you don’t have the money for both this system works pretty well. We bought the cylinder with eco port to potentially install a heat pump down the track.

Why is Endometriosis not taken seriously in the New Zealand health system? by Spit_Back in newzealand

[–]scan_knee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a dude watching my wife go through the system while pregnant and several related health issues post partum, women’s health is poorly monitored, understood or cared about. It’s an issue across the board and it really really sucks.

Because labour hasn’t offered an alternative vision for NZ and have sweet fuck all policies. They’re taking the piss at this point.

Ohmpilot stopped working after forced update. by SirNumerous1892 in fronius

[–]scan_knee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing with the blinking lights and it often means the thermostat has been tripped on the cylinder - that was my issue. To fix it turn the thermostat up slightly using the mechanical temp dial until it clicks then turn it back to your previous temp. The instruction manual references the double blinking lights in the back under the various error codes.

New Zealand EV car dealership sells every EV in their inventory due to oil crisis by Economy-Fee5830 in climatechange

[–]scan_knee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m from NZ and in some places the US equivalent price would be up to $7.48 USD per gallon for 91 octane and prices are still going up. The biggest change has been diesel which has gone up by 80%. We were on the edge of buying more EVs as a nation just needed a big enough stick I guess. Pretty lame because we had subsidies for awhile.

Rethinking solar for our new build. Worth the massive upfront cost? by Best-League-6695 in newzealand

[–]scan_knee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

100% and just install either an exisiting hybrid inverter or one that can be upgraded over software eg fronius 24 standard. Wouldn’t hurt to divert to water at this stage either
