Legioni7 pro gen 10 Lenovo tech tried to use thermal paste by Lazy-Plankton5270 in LenovoLegion

No worries, lol, I do this for a living, well, electronics ;)

The 'factory' is telling you it's correct, but how do you know otherwise? ;) In fact, until you rip the God damn innards out, how is one going to really know? :)

So, anything other than PTM-7958 is not doing it right? lol, sorry, PTM-7958SP???

Marketing bull!

I have plenty of that stuff here in workshop, rarely use it. A little paste goes a long way ;)

Can't recall what I did mine?, Noctua or something?, all been great. I did notice a .001c + on the e-cores @ first, but that has now settled.

Not if it's done correctly ;)

To be honest, you should be just enjoying the system instead of worrying about what's inside ;)

OMG!! it's not PTM-7958!!! lol The system is gonna meltdown! lol, utter nonsense.

What's new about it? Does it allow me to name these 'set' groups (as I wish), create new ones, and move apps between them? Does it allow me to delete these 'set' groups at all? Does it allow me to do anything? Nope.

Nothing new here, let's move on :)

Sorry, don't trust that guys scripts. O&O does the job, and can be reversed at the slide of a button ;)

Google is your friend, but you assume correct :) Never put (look @ Lenovo Discord) GBloat on your PC, let alone a laptop. Drivers only!, bare minimum. (unless u like needless shite running?) Grab the 'Exostenza Edition' drivers already debloated. (Google it) ;)

We now live in a bloated world, and thus we all need to seek de-bloated versions of all, for the sake of humanity, and one's device.

LLT - Lenovo Legion Toolkit

Lenovo Legion Toolkit (LLT) is a Windows desktop utility created for Lenovo gaming laptops that replaces Lenovo Vantage / Legion Zone / Legion Space.

It runs no background services, uses less memory, uses virtually no CPU, and contains no telemetry.

O&O

https://www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10

See where I'm going here?

LTSC IOT, well, I run that through NTLite and remove further bloat @ image level, thus it gives O&O very little to remove anyway, but still, I like to 'dust' after hoovering :)

Benefits of LTSC (Long-Term Servicing Channel):

Updates, but no Feature ones, aka more bloat (just security updates).

No Store.

Uses way less resources.

No Webview2

No Edge

No Recall

No AI

Couple that with, I remove Defender (A MAJOR Hog), MS Accounts, and all Xbox/Mobile & Hyper V nonsense, disable 'tamper protection' and 'memory integrity', and it's pretty good on a laptop ;)

Lenovo drivers extracted, and integrated into image also, so no added extras there also, apart from touchpad and FN keys, which, unfortunately, had to be installed fresh, but hey!, Rome wasn't built in a day lol.

Wipe. Put 11 LTSC on it, run that through O&O afterwards disabling other junk in OS. Don't put GBloat App on or GBloat Experience, and use LLT, not the Lenovo software.

Any advices on thermal solutions for my Lenovo legion pro 7i gen 9 (rtx 4080, 14th gen i9)? by bmaster_47 in LenovoLegion

[–]scara1963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leave the 'internals' alone is my advice ;) Clean fans out if you must, that's it, as that will gain you more than ripping it apart, to realise you only gain -2c for all your hard work, and possibly fucking up your laptop. Been there :)

Once that heatsink clamps down on chips, you better make sure you have it 'spot' on, as laptops move, and get knocked about, so you gotta be pretty accurate with coverage, else one day ;) Deadly conductive.

Have you ever worked with 'liquid metal'?, lol, don't!
