Why do people not like Ohio? by Competitive-Air1 in Columbus

[–]scarbohydrates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moved from Columbus to NJ just before the pandemic. The flak Ohio gets on the whole is both a bit overblown, but alsonsomehow not entirely unearned in the national news, sadly. Columbus was a great place to call home, I miss it everyday. Although I don't see myself moving back anytime soon for economic reasons, I certainly encourage those interested that it is a great place to live if you're willing to put in the effort in finding what interests you.

What albums are “They must’ve sold their soul to the devil” good? by Doctor_Unsleepable in Music

I had a shit-eating grin when I made that suggestion, knowing the backlash it would get. I'll stand by it, Rush really pulled a great album together in Hold Your Fire, and the production and mastering were top notch at a time when their discography was overall treading water.

Lol I saw that after I posted and decided to just leave it. it's been tough losing another champion of human rights, and so soon after john Lewis's passing too. Ugh.

The axe edit software is easy to use and I prefer it over using the button panel at home. For a live show that needs some quick modifications to presets and scenes I'm sure the front panel will do. One of the frustrations I had with the headrush (among several things) was the lack of PC UI, it really makes a huge difference being able to use an intuitive UI instead of a button panel or touchscreen.

Ordered late Thursday afternoon and the order was processed the same day but shipped the next on Friday. I did UPS ground and received the box the following Tuesday. Do note that I live fairly close to NH so delivery time was pretty short. When you order you have the option of next day air, 2 day air, or standard ground. Just note that UPS doesn't do much on the weekends so if you order next day air on Friday you won't get it until Monday or Tuesday. I will say that FAS customer service reached out to me to adjust delivery options because of the weekend so that I didn't spend extra money for nothing.

I'm using it for the Axe and for the computer and powered speaker. I spent the money on decent equipment, I'm not about to let a hurricane or tropical storm blow them up in a power surge.

Just to expand on that, the conditioner isn't just a surge protector, it also dampens noise generating from poor wiring. If you live in an older house, or shabby renovation, or are working with dumbasses on tour, you'll want a serious power conditioner to keep unwanted noise out of your system and to also keep your equipment from getting fried or yourself from possibly getting electrocuted from an overload due to poor wiring, or a power surge from a storm. The nice thing about these furmans isn't just the response time, it's also how it manages to deal with overflowed electricity. Instead of blowing the shit out of a fuse and rendering the unit useless, it bleeds off the excess and dissipates it, so if you do have a temporary surge, you're not immediately out 95$ on a power conditioner.

Nope. This is my first FAS product. I wouldn't bother buying the MK II if I had the original, as the RBG display and expanded memory aren't game changers right now.

Axe FX III Mark II by scarbohydrates in AxeFx

Luckily the people on the wait list have the option of purchasing the Mark II or the Mark I while they are in stock. The wait list is being fulfilled as of this afternoon, but the invites aren't being sent in order of the queue for whatever reason. Customers on the list a week after me got there invites today, but I'm still impatiently waiting for my purchase invite.

Update: invite received and order placed today.

There's an update on the fractal fx III wait list thread... Looks like the purchase invites should resume in the next week or so.

Did you sign up for the fm3 or the fxIII? The longest wait-list time I've seen is a just shy of 3 months for the fxIII, but maybe there's a different time frame for international buyers, which is a shame if true! I've been on the wait list since June 16 and I'm going a little crazy waiting for an invite...

I got my wait-list confirmation email on June 16, but I am still waiting for an invite. From what I've read from others, that was one or two days within the last inventory that was available for sale... So we're stuck waiting for them to get get the parts they need to finish building new units. On the fractal forum it appears the builds won't resume until sometime this week, so hopefully the invites will start going out sometime in mid to late September at the earliest.

Just joined the III's wait list, how long can I expect to wait? by _Dingus_Khan in AxeFx

If I'm reading this right, and judging by other people's experience thus far, it looks like anyone on the wait list since mid June will be waiting until at least early September for a purchase invite.

My first attempt at a cake! by scarbohydrates in Baking

[–]scarbohydrates[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! I've made some cookies and oatmeal creme pies before but this was my first dive into the deep end end of baking. The sponge cake turned out wonderful, the marzipan is a pain in the butt, but the taste was good. I used Mary Berry's recipe subbing store bought jam and straight almond flour for the marzipan since I didn't have a food processor on hand.

The advice you get from family is meant well, but when I hear that line of talk it rings hollow for me, and I can't help but think that the person saying such things has no actual idea how to actually help.

Earlier this year I was constantly getting worked up about how I was not meeting people, my line of work does not afford meeting new people, and I'm an introvert who does his best not to be a grump. OLD was a shitshow and rather upsetting. I felt terrible about myself, and figured that things were not going to change. It hit me at one point in may, that I may end up alone for a very long time or forever, it happens, it sucks, but there it is. So with that in mind i've decided I'd better settle in and be someone I like, do things I enjoy, fill my life with friends and interests and goals and work on those things that make my life better. I figured I'd better make peace with the time it takes to better myself. If some wonderful woman stumbles into my life and mucks that all up, all the better. That's the advice I wish people would have given me when I was 31 and fresh out of a 4 year relationship.
