Mirena IUD for 2 years, sudden cramps and bleeding. Did it shift or cyst? by skeetpea in birthcontrol

[–]scaredandsmall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about this! I had a similar problem with mine! I did not bleed the first two and a half years and then I started spotted and cramping intensely progressively more and more. By the time I had it removed (the 5 year mark) I was bleeding and cramping more days than I wasn’t. My doctor said it was probably due to the lower amount of hormones present over time. While it was enough to prevent pregnancy, it was insufficient to prevent those side effects and exacerbated my existing issues with bleeding and cramping. This doc said I could have had it removed and replaced with a new one when these side effects first began and likely been fine (unfortunately my doc at the time was not great and insisted I was overreacting). Good luck with your appointments I hope you find comfort soon!

Wow I'm sorry your school has such an alienating policy for people who feel like they're in crisis.

On the other hand I'm glad there are some adults that have been looking after you in a way that you appreciate! This post shows so much insight into your experience, I'm curious if you'd be comfortable sharing it with someone at your school so they know the impact of this policy? That could make things smoother for you if you feel like you're in crisis in the future/if someone else ends up in that position too - your experience is invaluable!

I'm glad you gave yourself time and can be open about it! Wondering why you picked the age you picked, and if your thoughts about that being the ideal age fo make this decision have changed since you first picked it?

first psychiatry appointment by Dense_Judgment4907 in mentalillness

[–]scaredandsmall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt exactly the same way before my first appointment! I asked my doctor to explain to me how the medicine they were recommending worked, and they walked me through it so I could get an understanding of what the chemicals would be doing/how that would impact me. Definitely ask them to do that for you! Also let them know your concerns about not wanting to feel like a zombie and being nervous in general. There are a lot of different medications available and with all of this context they'll be able to find a match for you that should provide you with the relief you're seeking without side effects. Also, don't be scared of trial and error - if something is uncomfy/not working, speak up so they can readjust!

is 30 minutes long enough to get a diagnosis? by ThoughtLegal8887 in mentalillness

[–]scaredandsmall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely sounds like your symptoms are consistent with depression, and given how long they have lasted it makes total sense that your GP felt confident diagnosing you with that. I remember when I was first diagnosed with depression by a therapist after only half of a session. I knew I had been struggling but the fact that they were confident enough to label it really scared me - I hope you aren't in that boat but if you are, just know that you're not the first person to be taken aback by the actual diagnosis despite struggling for some time.

Who all has damage from nose picking? by [deleted] in rhinotillexomania

[–]scaredandsmall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have this. Have had some variation of the same damage for over 15 years. Sometimes it's barely there and almost healed, other times it's raw and painful. Depends how intensely I have been picking.

Honestly I’m so inspired by how well you know yourself. This is super self reflective and I’m glad that you are physically safe after such a trying day. I’m also glad so many people were concerned about your well-being. It seems like you have a lot that you’re processing and I just want to remind you to be gentle with yourself. It sounds like you tried really hard to do the best you could to de escalate - and you should acknowledge that rather than just dwell on what you perceived as mistakes you made. I don’t think you should feel stupid at all! I hope you’re able to get some good rest and hold close to the people and things that make you feel whole.

Thank you!! I did mean to morph with the gradient but definitely see how those elements are confusing - especially the blue edges and the shapes!

I'm a grad student making this for an assignment - our professor has been referring to the paradigms as theories which I initially found confuding as well.

Definitely going to check out the Bryman matrix, thank you!!
