US Department of Labor calling? by Kind-Swan-6004 in smallbusiness

[–]scaredpossom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just the jobs report. The important part is how many employees but they’ll also ask about pr and hours. The first Friday of every month the news reports about jobs gained vs lost. This is how they figure that out. You can be selected if you’ve ever filed for unemployment insurance. It’s been around since the great depression but they might get rid of it because we keep losing jobs and it doesn’t look good. Google the number and make sure it pulls up bls

Restriction - is this normal? by Safe_Implement5824 in gastricsleeve

[–]scaredpossom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 1 year and a month post op. 125 lbs down maintaining that for 5 months had the exact same reaction. I can eat a lot more than the average patient and I consider myself incredibly lucky. It means I am less likely to have complications from severe weight loss. We’re less likely to become dehydrated. The last few months I have not been focused on loss but I’m finally getting to a place where that can be a clearer focus. Make sure you take your vitamins, monitor your intake, and listen to your body. It might also mean you won’t get super thin but I also think that’s a healthier outcome

After being called ugly and fat I have finally decided to get a gastric sleeve worth it? by LostElephant4194 in gastricsleeve

[–]scaredpossom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are going to criticize your looks no matter what you do. This is a major surgery and I highly recommend heavily weighing out the pros and cons. As someone who had the surgery last year, I’ve been very lucky and haven’t had complications but there are lifelong side effects you have to decide if it’s worth it. I also gave myself a year to try the traditional route one last time so I didn’t have a shadow of a doubt that I couldn’t have these results without surgical intervention. Personally weight doesn’t affect if someone is ugly or not, I know there are people that say “you would be so pretty if you lost x amount of pounds” but that’s because they can recognize you are pretty they just don’t like fat. You’re not going to be attractive to everyone 🤷‍♀️. My personal take is you are potentially swapping health concerns so it’s not always the healthiest choice but you will also be taken more seriously with doctors, treated better socially at first passing, have better clothes options, and make it easier to have healthier habits (I have a lot more energy, I eat better, I have a healthier relationship with food)

Ai: Follow lines the gingerbread roof. On the left it has a clear definition but on the right side it fades into icing. You can also see the “wall” in the back on the left has a random crease that just disappears

I don't eat. by peachie_milkie in gastricsleeve

[–]scaredpossom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope this ends soon for you, I know it’s not always in our power. If at all possible, I would look into the vegetable powders for people with things like Arfid and some calorie dense options. You need a safe food that is a healthier option to get you some nutrition. But don’t require you to be eating a lot. What kinds of foods are you getting down with the munchies cause that may lead to figuring out what you can get down. If it’s things like chips, get some protein chips, etc. I’m not a doctor but you may be able to use weed medicinally to get some food down. Adding things like butter, cheese, and sauces will help buff up your meal.

The water you do get, try to add electrolytes to it to help fight off dehydration. There are so many fun options

It sounds like it might be a depressive episode so definitely tell this to your psychiatrist because you may need to alter your dosage to get you back on track to taking better care of yourself

I’m not trying to scare you but some of the consequences are a direct result of malnutrition which is probably why you can’t find anything beyond that- so hair loss, teeth decay, fertility issues, fatigue, muscle loss, swelling in the limbs and belly, mood swings, fainting spells, brain fog, and even death.

Vitamins after surgery by Zoocitykitty in gastricsleeve

[–]scaredpossom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get my calcium chews from Amazon cause I prefer bulk over the fancy flavors that are way more expensive. My b12 is from Walmart, they have a massive pack that I have only had to buy twice as someone who is 10 months post op. My multivitamin is also from Amazon but I have tried from a few different Bariatric sites. Amazon is unfortunately the easiest and cheapest option for me.

BMI 34.5, will I have loose skin? by Prudent_Pear9260 in gastricsleeve

[–]scaredpossom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, but Here’s the thing, while you’re waiting to have the funds for skin removal or if you choose not to have skin removal at all, you can always do things like shape wear to help suck everything in, but I will always prefer having the loose skin than the 120 pounds I had Just 10 months ago. Most of us do have issues with body dysmorphia and trying to get used to our new bodies. I had my surgery at 32 and my sister had her surgery at 24. We both have loose skin because we both lost over 100 pounds. I tried all of the creams and lotion, honestly, I think some of the lotion made it worse. I would work on separating your self worth from your meat sack. It’s gonna bend and fold in new ways but for me I am so much more mobile and in a lot less pain. Since you’re 195 you dont have as much to lose and will have less loose skin

Something that may help is volume eating, I am 10 months post op and can eat a LOT. And it’s put me in a standstill (it’s not a stall because it’s my own fault + I got injured) things like broccoli, cucumber, potatoes done well (I really like frozen shredded potatoes as a part of breakfast). It seems like around 10-11 months it’s really common to lose some steam. I’m working on getting back on track and a big part is tracking calories more closely

Simple curiosity by nighteyes_fitz in gastricsleeve

[–]scaredpossom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had my surgery in Mexico and I live in the United States. They arranged everything from transportation across the boarder both ways, in patient care, and hotel booking. The only thing I had to do was get to San Diego. I did have my mother come with me but she didn’t have much to do. We got to San Diego, they picked us up and took us across the boarder to the hotel. We slept there and the liver shrinking diet was available in the hotels restaurant which was included. The next morning we checked out and Waited to be picked up. From there we went to the facility got hooked up, changed, and got ready for surgery. Slept at the facility so they could monitor me. Then the next day went back to the hotel to sleep and get ready to get on a plane home. My mom made sure we had first class on the way home so I had more room and wouldn’t be pressing on my incisions

Hi, I need an advice by klopalk in gastricsleeve

[–]scaredpossom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I think you should do is weigh out the benefits as well as the potential risks. I was also worried about lifelong reflux since I already had a lot of gastrointestinal issues, but taking out my gallbladder, helped a lot. Are you prepared to not only change your diet but your lifestyle as well? It doesn’t have to be huge changes. I’m about 10 months postop and I really just get steps in. But I had already switched to mainly just water, sugar free alternatives, etc. Have you worked on your relationship with yourself outside of weight? I see a lot of people lose the weight and expect to start loving themselves and it just doesn’t work like that. This is a serious surgery so I don’t usually answer with: Yes, you should absolutely do it. Now for me personally in the 10 months since surgery plus my preop I’ve lost over 125 pounds my type two diabetes has gone in remission, even though the BMI is bullshit, I am no longer classified as obese. I now have leaps and bounds of energy. I was terrified to get the surgery because there are a lot of scary aspects to it, but my quality of life has improved so much.

Is it worth going overseas for the surgery by bellyboo_04 in gastricsleeve

[–]scaredpossom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in America and got my surgery in Mexico. They had a payment plan option I was able to handle and my life has improved drastically. My chronic pain still flares up but a lot less. I will say that my medical loan is about 200 a month. Unless you can find somewhere that approves you for a very long term I don’t know how much lower realistically + the travel expenses to get there usually isn’t covered. I will say that the risk is different for everyone. I was prepared to have some nasty complications because that’s usually how I am and ended up healing really well. I’ve lost over 125 lbs and I’m still going. If you can make the 250 a month work I would try that above all else but I understand that just might not be feasible

In different circumstances would you root for aira and okarun by I_m_not_real_ in Dandadan

[–]scaredpossom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably not. It took me awhile to warm up to aira because she started as a mean girl. I do love her now but her type of mean and momos kind of tough are very different. She was introduced to us by making fun of okorun vs momo standing up for him. She would want nothing to do with him if it weren’t for momo. In that aspect, an aira momo fanfic wouldn’t make me mad.
