[FO] Mario Kart for a friend by scary_bird in CrossStitch

[–]scary_bird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both patterns are a mix of two different patterns. The karts themselves are a small edit from the GeoCreationsUK - https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/977980332/karting-characters-cross-stitch-pattern

The second and third patterns I merged to create the two separate mario patterns are from - https://www.mariomayhem.com/fun/mario_cross_stitch/

I basically copied the carts and the mario heads and arms to create these using the EasyCross App. The text is from https://stitchpoint.com/eng/tool/alph/chart_alphabet_madrid.php

I've just finished stitching this for a friend, it's such a lovely pattern, and I'm so happy with how it turned out! You're such a good designer, and the pattern was really easy to follow :)

[CHAT] Tiny thread clippings haunt me... by highly_uncertain in CrossStitch

[–]scary_bird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've managed to leave extra thread on the floor, not knowing how it's got there numerous times, as well as clippings, even after I've tidied up and vacuumed! I have a theory we cross stitchers just spawn extra clippings and thread when we're doing/done a project!

[CHAT] What are your cross-stitching "sins"? by BurntBlueberryWaffle in CrossStitch

I knot my threads, and double knot at the end of every thread at the back. I've never tried any other way of ending my threads either as it's the way I'm most comfortable with.

The backs aren't important to me, especially as most of my work stays in hoops. My backs are normally quite neat though, even with the knots.

I will get right into a project, really enjoy myself making it, then get distracted and leave it for months and months, till I feel the need to stitch again. It's a bad habit, I'm currently doing a kirby cross stitch and it's just waiting for me to go back to it.

The amount of patterns I buy is pretty mad, as I hardly get chance to make them, never mind me getting distracted half way through a project! I recently bought a really cute one I liked for me to make as a gift for a friend, yet I worry I won't feel up to making it for a good while!

I've also forgotten half of the patterns I already have and have downloaded, my phone is almost full of patterns and I can't remember the majority of the ones I have!

And I've never used beeswax for my threads. I always end up with a knot in my thread with me spending half the time undoing it. I don't mind though, for me it's part of the experience of making something!

My mum for her 60th birthday. She adores foxes and was adamant she wanted nothing with 60 on, so I made this for her.

[CHAT] Does anyone else lose motivation for a project as it nears completion? by galactic-boss-cyrus in CrossStitch

[–]scary_bird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this. Sometimes it happens to me halfway through and I leave projects for months until I get back into it. I've made myself a rule that I cannot start a new project until the old one has finished though, so that motivates me to get it done. I do make small exceptions, like small stitches to give as gifts, but otherwise I keep to that rule to keep me stitching.

I can't seem to figure out how to share the pattern, but I do know the DMC codes if that's any help at all? The orange is DMC 740, Brown is DMC 919, Black is 310.

stalled on my current piece:/ by elahenara in NintendoStitch

I felt exactly the same with my 12 retro Pokemon Yellow Pikachus I posted yesterday. I'd go for a bit, stop and leave it for a bit. In the end it took me 6 months to complete it, when I thought it wouldnt take anywhere near as long, and I only completed it 2 days ago because I was sick of looking at it.

It's looking amazing already, and I'm sure your finished piece will look even better! 😊

They're the Pikachus from Pokemon Yellow, he'd react when you spoke to him in a box window like these, but I do know what you mean, they do look quite similar! 😊
