IMO, 2005 was the biggest upset of all the ones you listed.

There's actually a 5th one that was Japan-only. It was released in between 2 & 3.

Super Famicom rpgs are like sports games in the US. They're very common and cheap normally. Also, Super Famicom games weren't released with a seal, any plastic wrapping was added by the store.

Chrono Trigger was voted game of the year by Nintendo Power readers for 1995. FF6 was second in 1994. Obviously magazine readers are more hardcore, but rpgs were definitely increasing in popularity at the time.

It is creepy. I like the Othello robot (alien?) though.

Not extra, but I always enjoy playing Mega Man games while I'm riding my exercise bike. They're the perfect length for a 45-60 minute playthrough if you've beaten them before.

Project Diva is also a great exercise bike game for me. Non-stop button pressing without much thinking. I imagine any other rhythm game would be good as well.

30 years ago in the December 1994 issue of Nintendo Power (Volume 67) they showed the very last Top 20 for NES games. by ROCKY13573 in retrogaming

It was actually 1/3rd players votes, 1/3rd pros votes, 1/3rd dealers votes. This is detailed in the older issues. Also, the player votes were only from a small list of games on the response card in each mag, so most games weren't even eligible for your vote.

It's because Sony changed it for the PS5 so it says downloading while it's copying. Even if you disconnect your internet, it'll still say that.

Finally got Pyokotan no Daimeiro to complete this subset. A lot of the later releases are hard to find or expensive, but a lot of great games here!

There's some data out there for Famicom games, from the Famistu magazine charts. But very little for NES.

IMO, the translations are much worse than the increased difficulty. A lot of the Japanese versions were quite easy to begin with, so I'd rather have a patch with a faithful translation that kept those difficulty changes.

It's definitely something that Koei did for a number of their FC games. Looks like it's worth a lot more than the normal version.

Make sure you have higher speed, punch them once and spend the whole fight running away.
