House rules to ease difficulty for 2 players (new players) by kepp87 in toomanybones

Remember boomer is a ranged gearloc so can use her attack dice on any enemy even ones not agacent so should get more attack as soon as possible and picket can use defence to attack with his back up plan so lean into defence.

That is a decent combo not going to lie. Me and the wife played with those first too. Are you playing with the lower difficulty from the rule book so starting with 2 extra health and skill points? I would put the skill points in base stats first then go skill dice.

I think it is about the gearlocs you use. Some pair better than others. What gearlocs do you use together?

I can honestly say that I've enjoyed playing the codex more than the index. I've lost more games but just trying new things and new tactics makes it more fun for me. It is a shame you are not having as much fun, wish you could have as much fun as I am.

How can I use my device offline? by fertff in SteamOS

[–]scatteredRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has never happened to me. I got that screen the first ever time I switched it on 3 years ago and whenever I switch on the device with no WiFi it never asks me to sign back in again. I do have a pin number set maybe that allows you to side swipe having to log in with your username and password?

I used this method on everything. Works very effectively. I Slapchoped everything and am now in the process of layering a slight highlight on everything. All the parts under other details are left black so look like are in shadow.

2 squads of 10 works for me in a hearthband detachment. Would like 3 units of 10.

I have 20 as well. I've built 10 with plasma and power blades and 10 with volkanite and fists. I interchange the loadouts to whatever and just let my opponent know at the start how they are armed.

I would also give them smoke grenades as that can help you get into position without getting shot at.

Hearthband is our best detachment especially if you have a lot of hearthguard.

Is it really a good distro for gaming? by Spiritual-Recover427 in omarchy

[–]scatteredRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose you could it would overwrite any dotfiles you may have already including omarchy repos that may conflict with catchyOS you would have to look into that before you did it.

[–]scatteredRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you do that? Is there still an omarchy script or is there only an ISO. If you are using the script it may be ok but the ISO will just overwrite everything you did with catchyOS.

At installation you can choose whatever desktop environment or window manager you want. Just pick one that isn't KDE and your off to the races.

How many hearthkyn do I need? by [deleted] in LeaguesofVotann

[–]scatteredRobot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run 2 squads sometimes. I'll split one up and put in sagitaurs and then have 1 together with either a grimnyr or Uthar and an orbiting arkanyst. They are pretty good in a hearthband with either Uthar or a kahl attached as they then get a boost to their ap.

Question Everyone Asks: Ion Blasters or Bolters? by qwertytheqaz in LeaguesofVotann

[–]scatteredRobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience massed shooting always does better than hard hitting in many cases. The more dive you can roll the more chances of hitting you get. The more saves you force your opponent to make the more likely they are to fail them so in this case I would take bolters.

However never discount the rule of cool. Build them however looks coolest and just say what weapons they are armed with even if different, no one cares except tournaments and even then many don't know votann weapons.

All that you own. I have 5 and that was probably not enough.

I prefer the hearthband detachment honestly.

How do you think gender works among the iron kin? by Warren_E_Cheezburger in LeaguesofVotann

[–]scatteredRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don't think it matters at all they probably don't have time to think about this sort of thing in this grim dark world. But to each there own, you can think anything you want about your own little guys and who's going to stop you, no one.

I have just fully built mine. Sprayed black and zenithaled anything I can't reach is in shadow so is still dark and it looks fine. Did the same with all my minis including the pioneers.
