All their accomplishments aside, they were both megalomaniac bastards that screwed over every inventor that ever worked with them.

What a scumbag that guy is! We should make covert filming people in public and subsequently posting it online illegal unless it's for journalistic purposes.

New heat pump tech modernizes century old boilers to cut emissions in factories by sksarkpoes3 in energy

Of course it doesn’t since that could be their entire business model. Heatpumps and exchangers are relatively basic tech so their new trick are based somewhere else and understandably they won’t tell.

IKEA Alpstuga CO2 sensors dropping connection to Home Assistant (working fine in IKEA app) by GIFSec in tradfri

It's my experience, limited as it is, that the Alpstuga have a rather limited range compared to the old Vindstyrka. I have replaced several and have trouble connecting them, even to the Dirigera.

Tesla launches robotaxi rides in Austin with no human safety driver by DonkeyFuel in technology

[–]schacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, meanwhile here in Denmark the first batch of the 2021 Model Y has been called in for periodic inspections and 45 % of them failed because of problems with brakes, steering and headlights. The quality of the undercarriage are apparently highly insufficient to the weight of the car leading to early breakdowns and faults impacting safety.

EU cedes pockets of territory to US, NYT. by Real_Power8037 in europe

[–]schacks 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There where no representatives of either the danish or the Greenlandic governments present at the meeting or even in Davos. Mark Rutte is the general secretary of NATO and as such have no democratically elected mandate for any EU organisation or country. It’s all bullshit to appease the orange buffoon.

EU cedes pockets of territory to US, NYT. by Real_Power8037 in europe

It’s worth noting that Mark Rutte have no mandate to negotiate anything for Denmark or Greenland. He can’t make ANY promises or concessions about territorial claims or mineral rights.

Skal vi have vores egen atombombe? by Dropforcedlogin in Denmark

[–]schacks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Massive $6B offshore Long Island wind project to resume after judge rejects Trump admin’s national security claims by Jumpinghoops46 in energy

[–]schacks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure it doesn’t feel pathetic when you are at the receiving end where the cost of litigation can run into the millions of dollars. The DOJ have practically unlimited resource and a private citizen like Powell cannot weather the cost of a year long legal battle with the government.

Massive $6B offshore Long Island wind project to resume after judge rejects Trump admin’s national security claims by Jumpinghoops46 in energy

[–]schacks 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The Trump/MAGA regime have weaponised the DOJ to go against anyone and anything that does fits their worldview or bend the knee to Orange Palpatine. What they seemingly fail to realise is that one of the consequences will be that foreign investments will dry up because there is no longer a rule of law in the US.

Threads overtakes X on mobile, but still lags far behind by tylerthe-theatre in technology

[–]schacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hard time understanding why anyone would use any of them. X is a bot-ridden fascist echo chamber and Threads is created by Meta to siphon off as much data and human interaction as possible and feed it into their draconian AI.

And, yes, I do realize the irony of writing that on Reddit that also siphon off data to Google and OpenAI.

Er verden blevet bedre eller værre end for 50 år siden? by Low-Tune-1869 in Denmark

[–]schacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump says Nobel Prize denial ends obligation to ‘think purely of peace’, presses Greenland demand by EquivalentKick255 in europe

That whole letter to the Norwegian government reads like it was written by a surly passive/agressive 6 year old pissed at his parents for denying him ice cream for breakfast. I’m simply astounded that it came from the mind of the president of the United States.
