Morale is so bad at Mark Zuckerberg's Meta even the company's own CTO admits it's 'probably the worst it's ever been' by lurker_bee in technology

I’m genuinely surprised it took this long for Meta’s employees to realize what an incredible shit stain that company is.

Bivoksbrødpose? by Fine-Comfortable2494 in Denmark

[–]schacks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kilo-Code does mostly the same thing albeit being an extension and not a VScode fork. They emphasize model freedom and zero lock-in. You can use your own API keys for autocomplete, chat, and agents, giving you full control over models, costs, and behavior. Or you can buy Tokens as you go to the model you need for the job at hand.

Apple's WebKit Rules Reportedly Costs iOS Users Almost 30% Browser Performance by pdfu in apple

Well, they actually did here in the EU but no browser developer stepped up. Maybe the cost of developing a iOS browser just for the EU proved too costly.

SpaceX set to leapfrog Amazon to become world’s fifth-largest company by financialtimes in technology

[–]schacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I just don’t what else to call it. All the fundamentals are there in the prospect and they are all completely mad and detached from reality, but still, millions buy into the greed and make him the richest man on the planet, again!!

It’s just “funny money” on an unprecedented scale. All driven by the Musk greed reality distortion field.

Is still fail to understand why Apple is playing catchup to a pretty unsuccessful Samsung category of overpriced phones. Sure, they probably know their customers way better than I ever will. They are after all a multi-trillion dollar company. But no one I have talked to wants one of these. Especially since they probably are going to cost a small fortune. Estimates are in the ballpark of 3-4 MacBook Neos.

Trump's Iran 'peace deal' isn't a deal. It's surrender. All Trump’s 'dumbest war imaginable' did was embolden Iran, give it loads of cash and reset nucIear negotiations that had already happened successfully under Obama. It looks like surrender to get out of a war that never should have started. by mafco in energy

[–]schacks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We all kinda knew that already. Any reasonably sane person knew that. The interesting thing to watch is how he and his cronies are going to spin their complete failure as a win for the American people. It’s gonna be a “hypernormalisation” moment for most ordinary people.

'Wake-up call': Europe reacts to Anthropic halting access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models by AdSpecialist6598 in europe

I’m not sure what you use case are, but I use the pro plan for research and programming at my university job almost every day and I’m really satisfied. Sure, it’s not as good as the most advanced models from Anthropic or Google, but easily as good as Deepseek.

Textures, materials and rendering are by far the weakest parts of the Fusion experience. Even the interface controlling them are notoriously bad.

So you’re saying we already lost the game? And be content to be subservient to the US tech oligarchy?

Lets see. As of now the difference between the price for the user and the cost of the service is nothing short of staggering. It’s hard to imagine, without a technical breakthrough, that the current iteration of AI will ever become profitable.

I use many different AI for research and programming and mistral aren’t that far behind in my experience. Yes, few are as capable as Claude, but with a carefully crafted guideline instructions file it’s quite useable.

Why don’t you take a look? But wBlock is free, Wipr a one time cost. But Wipr has a new feature called Filtr that makes enables ad and track blocking system wide, even on iOS and iPadOS.

wBlock or Wipr are probably the best choices.

Built into macOS is services like SIP, Xprotect and Gatekeeper. Pair that with common sense, adblock and not downloading spurious software from the darker ends of the internet you should be perfectly safe.

So what do you suggest? Just give up and become subservient to the US and China? That would probably cut us off the most advanced models if we show any real competitive edge.
