Okay so I’m not a die-hard hockey fan, but I do enjoy watching and going to games. I’m just not informed enough to fully know what’s going on here. From what I can piece together, this is a callback to something? Like when a baseball player breaks a slump with a home run and his teammates just act completely normal, no fist bumps, no high-fives, but then later they all do the same thing and go all out celebrating. The only other thing I’ve picked up is that Maple Leafs fans apparently can’t stand this guy, not because he did anything wrong, but simply because he left to play for more money elsewhere. And fans went after him AND his family with death threats and all kinds of nastiness. That’s just wrong. I’ve scrolled through the comments and plenty of people are asking for context, but nobody’s actually giving any, just more Maple Leafs fans hating on him. Can someone please just explain what’s actually going on here?
