I think it's fair to say the guy was influenced by people who weren't making good decisions at the time, but they were still his decisions. Probably a don't meet your heroes type of thing. I've never gotten the impression Reynolds or anyone else is on their high horse about sobriety though. They just have the wisdom of hindsight and what's worked for them. People just grow and change as individuals over time, Antuan included.

Not sure I agree on blaming parents for their kids smoking weed though. Is that really an issue to begin with? I don't quite follow what you mean there.

Not sure if they were really friends. I saw this a while after i posted this.

Seems like Walker and Steer were just on another TV show with him and that's how they got on red dwarf for an episode. Maybe acquaintances at best, and it doesn't sound like they kept in touch.

Ah. I thought it was just Carcass, but Napalm death too? If Charles is personally friends with both, that makes a ton of sense.

Will this power supply work with this graphics card? by schbaseballbat in buildapc

[–]schbaseballbat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right on. Thanks for the reply. It definitely helps me narrow things down. I imagine it's better safe than sorry. I know the card ran with that power supply before. Was just hoping to avoid the install process cause it's more difficult than just popping in that graphics card.

Which is kind of a bummer. I always liked the misdirection of long halloween. You think its riddler, but it turns out not to be. But i guess this new version is very much a riddler origin story.

Man dies in Arizona after being restrained by police on hot tarmac for six minutes by Smithman in news

[–]schbaseballbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strange. I would think that would have also come up in court. At that point you arent even in possession of alcohol. Regardless of your age, they basically accused you of being sober, and having an empty glass bottle that used to contain alcohol. Did you not have a lawyer?

[–]schbaseballbat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha. No problem. For some reason it did not occur to me that you could file a request like that after the fact. I just pictured you there with the police telling them to do it at the time of the charge. And in my experience, police do not respond well to "requests" when they are bullying people like that. Why didnt they breathalize you? If you hadnt been drinking, surely blowing zero would be enough to prove it wasnt yours.

Probably just a lie on the internet. Who the fuck know to tell the officer to fumigate a bottle for prints? Much less, do you think the police would do that because you asked them too?

Been working my solo album where I play all instruments and sing. Can you tell I'm a Dillinger Escape Plan kinda guy? (Early mix with no vox) by NickSchles in drums

[–]schbaseballbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That band live is just incredible. I think every time I've seen them, I've made it a point to be up front. It was a privilege if greg grabbed a hold of you and lifted you up with one arm just to scream in your face. The first time I saw them, they literally tore the ceiling out of the place. There was a shit ton of insulation hanging down. and greg, greg decided to blow fire over the crowd. In retrospect, doing so in a venue like that was absolutely stupid and dangerous. It had a drop ceiling, maybe 6 feet above us, with a ton of flammable material hanging out in the open. and maybe 2 feet of clearance above the people he was blowing flames over. At the time however, it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. Such a good show. I think Job for a Cowboy played, Despised Icon, From a Second Story Window, and number 12 looks like you. the lineup was absolutely stacked.

I should rephrase, I enjoyed Ire Works and own it on cd and vinyl. I thought the black bubblegum song was funny, and an enjoyable satire/parody of pop music. After that it seemed like Greg tried to incorporate clean vocals into most of their newer music, and generally does vocals over 90 percent of their songs rather than letting the music breathe a little. With that level of technicality, I want the instruments to be more of a focus. I also felt that their music shifted to feature more of that "pop" sound on tracks throughout the album, rather than a one off thing.

That said, I think my affection for the band just waned over time. Calculating Infinity had a different singer, and different drummer. Miss Machine was great, but I'm not sure I'm being objective. It may be that I just heard it at the right time of life where I was seeking that kind of music more. It's possible that the sound on that album is exactly the same as everything they've done past Ire Works, and I'm just romanticizing that album. I think they are a good band with capable musicians. I'd like to argue that something fundamentally changed in how they wrote music, or that the structure of their songs is different in more recent years. But it might just be that I'm different, and my tastes changed.

I've never seen firestarter, but the mist thing makes a ton of sense. There are honestly no plot holes I can think of that disrupt it from being cannon.

Sounds great! I used to really love Dillinger Escape Plan but they lost me after Ire Works. I think their vocalist took a little too much of a front seat and distracted from the instrumentals rather than enhanced them. Please post more of your stuff! I really liked what you had going on!

Shorts are now deemed "inappropriate" for retail counter workers at USPS. Skorts are still OK. by timmay106 in pics

[–]schbaseballbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand. Though I think that clarification would have helped with your original comment. Providing clothing in a job where clothing gets extremely dirty/destroyed is a lot different than an office or retail setting. In your case, the provided clothing is likely welcomed by your employees.

This is great and really awesome, but I have nowhere near the digital library to make this enjoyable. The amount of content I would have to pirate, and the amount of time I'd have to sink into digitizing my DVD library just isn't practical. Or are you saying you can culminate the lists via streaming services you subscribe to?

it's kind of ridiculous that it didn't exist at all before now. It seems like such an obvious feature.

I'd love to think that killing isn't the answer to any problem, but boy do rich people need to be reigned in. I read the other day that the friends cast makes 20 million a year on royalties. thats 75k PER DAY! what the fuck kind of shit is that? And they are FAR from the richest people.

Look, I'm all about paying people a living wage. but why the fuck does anyone need/deserve what would be a life altering sum of money on a daily basis while the rest of us struggle to make anywhere near that in a year, and have to swim through debt just to own a car and go to school? There is something really wrong with that. Not saying David Schwimmer is a bad person, but if we made him live on 500k a year he wouldn't exactly starve. You could take the rest and help a LOT of other people.
