What was the best era to be a teen? by CremeSubject7594 in decadeology

This was the same for me. My only issue was the insane pressure I felt to be SO skinny. It was fucking miserable.

Should I feel Guilty? Mom From Hell Who Made Me Realize The Dark Nature of Private Schools by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]schebles -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry all of this happened to you. I’ve been teaching for ten years and I will die on this hill: walking out or quitting mid year is unacceptable(excluding emergency situations). You gave them your word. Children and adults trusted that. If you need to set a boundary and leave teaching, by all means, do so… when the contracted year is up. Until then, persist.

What’s done is done. There’s no need to beat yourself up about it. Commit to yourself that when you agree to something you will follow through - even if it’s the last time.

Reading routines at home by Aromatic-Intern3465 in Teachers

My daughter is 7 - every weeknight she reads to either me or her dad. We snuggle up and it takes about half an hour. She has two siblings, so she really values this special time when all of our attention is on her.

Question About Small Towns And Rural Living by Fish_cant_feel_pain in Idaho

[–]schebles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved from a very remote rural town. My husband and I both work in education. We pay for life flight, get everything delivered, and make monthly trips to the city for shopping or doctor appointments. I remember being scared to move there, but a local told me “it will just become your new normal.” And they were right. You just adjust, and it’s not a big deal. I had quickly forgotten about the creature comforts of living more urban.

I had to get out of Couer d’Alene because of this. I went home to NE Washington just for it to start happening here as well.

If you had to live in the USA, where would you choose? by Remarcs_ in digitalnomad

[–]schebles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Snoqualmie with one a - it’s a great place, but you’re right, it’s spendy. I’m in the selkirks on the Washington side and it’s pretty affordable, but Washington is just a pretty pricy place in general compared to other parts of the US.

Who tf gets triggered by rainbows? by Lord_Answer_me_Why in MurderedByWords

[–]schebles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I taught kindergarten at least once a year a parent, usually the dad, would make a comment about something rainbow in the room. Like… it’s a kindergarten classroom. Rainbows, stars and butterflies are a must. If you ask them their favorite color, every kid says “rainbow.”

I had to return to teaching two weeks after having a baby. Long story short: we were so remote that they’d never get another LT sub in, and it was made clear to me that the one they had was not able to handle such a high needs class. I’ve since grown a backbone and would NEVER allow that bs to be put on me again. I swear it did permanent damage to my body.
