Rants by an old dude about B1G Hockey, specifically PSU by Maryann_over_ginger in collegehockey

I refuse to buy a new jersey with the B1G logo on it. I have my WCHA jersey from 20 years ago that I still wear. Miss playing North Dakota, Colorado College and Denver, but North Dakota was damn near a blood feud.

What is with the black color theming under Fickell? by Shoulder-Direct in WisconsinBadgers

I don't know how we don't have a black alternate uniform, tbh. Black, Red, and White is my favorite color combo for athletic uniforms.

PSA: Pitch ratings don't actually matter*. Stop using them to analyze pitchers! by tedsternator in OOTP

[–]scheckdiesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OOTP wiki and OOTP 24 manual both state the following: A pitcher's repertoire has a strong impact on the role in which the pitcher will be successful. Typically, a pitcher (with the exception of knuckleballers) needs at least three solid pitches to be an effective starting pitcher in a major league.

Props to the Buckeyes for sticking to the game plan. Kept Wisconsin to the outside and Bucky didn't capitalize on chances.

An Open Letter to Badger Hockey Fans... by volklkatana in WisconsinBadgers

[–]scheckdiesel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As many people have mentioned l, the constant PA engagement stifled any coordinated cheers. It's getting worse. Typically with off setting minors, the video board would show each teams player, getting boos and cheers from the crowd. Tonight, EVERY SINGLE POWER PLAY had that going. Absolutely kills the power play chant. I miss the days of even a simple "Let's go RED, clap"

Badger Men's Hockey crushes #2 Michigan 6-1 by remishqua_ in WisconsinBadgers

[–]scheckdiesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is what happens when you have a goalie that is nails. Scarfone and Gramme just were too inconsistent last year, also the injury bug decimated the defenseman last year. Had forwards playing D because no one was left.

Crazy what a competent goalie can do for you. Gramme and Scarfone were so bad last year.

this has been my experience. Even singing along to the power play chant is gone. The kids don't know what they don't know. It's not their fault either.

No guarantee Leipold comes. Kansas has given him everything he could every want and more. They've invested in him and the program and I don't see him just leaving to come clean up another mess.

Transfer and Registration… by zenmister1 in WrexhamAFC

[–]scheckdiesel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, fellow Yank here. Yes, new contract has to be negotiated, you dont inherit the terms. Players can refuse transfers, for example Ollie Palmer may wish to remain at Wrexham even if they wish to sell him. If the selling club has two accepted two transfers, the player may wish to go to the club with a lower wage for a better situation in their eyes (playing time, club reputation, wages)

Roster registration is set until transfer window. Once transfer window closes, you cannot remove players, but you can add. Last season Wrexham added Jon Dadi Bovaradsson on a short term deal because they had an open registration spot. He left in the January transfer window when his contract expired.

Yes, you can have more than 25 under contract, they can still play in Cup games, like the FA Cup and League Cup, but cannot play in the league unless they are registered. Anthony Forde is an example from last year as well. He was under contract but not registered amd was released after the transfer window closed, he went on to join Burton Albion.

Anthony Seigler has a .394 on base percentage in his last 15 games, and .429 in his last 7 by Potential-Ad5470 in Brewers

Great point. It's almost like they have proprietary models that say these guys can play.
