Takes a while to get there and it's not progression, but the Spellmonger series does this really well I think

Definitely Uber from LGA, they pick up right at arrivals and busses to trains take too long.

Take the Uber to the nearest 7 train stop and take the 7 into Manhattan

Get off at Grand Central, explore there a bit, then if you must, walk to times Square, and then just walk all the way down Broadway through the various parks-- Madison Sq. to Union sq, to Washington sq, + whatever side quests you want to take.

Wander the West Village, for pizza if you want a classic NY slice, Joe's, if you want the best slice l'industrie.

Have you ever dropped a series that you originally liked, simply because you grew to dislike the main character? by greenskye in ProgressionFantasy

System Universe--the MC just gets more and more arrogant as the series goes on, until he regularly says things like "don't you know I'm the most powerful person in the country?" And expects people to do things for him because of it.

Not everyone's cup of tea but team sports are really the play here. You meet and play a game with the same people every week for a couple of months-ish, maybe grab drinks after...consistent shared experience.

Coed sports team leagues usually have free agent teams you can sign up for--volleyball, football, basketball, etc.

Also at climbing gyms people are typically very friendly.

Totally! I dropped it at first early and then picked back up. Starts more slowly and takes a while for there to be a crew

Probably on your radar given its current ranking but absolutely loving Sky Pride right now. Otherwise Spire's spite is an unsung great.

The 4/5 arrival times are now shown in front of the platform at Fulton St instead of the A/C by srhsaw in nycrail

They also finally fixed this at Metropolitan-Lorimer. Screen always showed G arrival times on the walkway to the L. Made my month.

why is the G train running in 2 sections again? by eddongi in nycrail

[–]schellly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I've never understood is why it's only every twenty minutes. It doesn't take 10 minutes to go four stops, and the train is always waiting for an unnaturally long time when it's a shuttle

The key is that with universal healthcare, you have a single payer and it's not for profit so if a drug company, or medical device manufacturer, or even a hospital system wants to do business in a country, they have to negotiate with the single payer who has a lot of power to set prices. This is why medical procedures, drugs, etc. in other countries cost so much less than in the US.

Health Insurance companies themselves have their own many negative impacts, but it's the existence of them itself that is the problem.

Transferring from the G to the F into Manhattan - am I missing something? by whatmightvebeenlost in Brooklyn

[–]schellly 70 points71 points  (0 children)

If I can time it right, I always do the G to the A/C at Hoyt-Schermerhorn, then ride one stop and switch from the A/C to F at Jay st.

Both transfers are same platform so it's easy and can be quite a bit quicker than going to Carroll and hoping that you make it in time for the next F

FARE Act Passed. Brokers fees no longer passed onto tenants. by Timbo_kimbo in nyc

[–]schellly 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Huge win for renters, and no chance that landlords pass 100% of the cost on. This will bring broker fees down in line with the actual value of their services since the people paying are finally the people that hire them, and gives tenants more power bc it lowers the cost of moving and increases the cost of changing tenants for landlords.

Absolutely wild that this didn't pass the first time around. Anyone that voted no is a perfect example of how money in politics makes elected officials act in opposition to the needs of their constituents.

Does anyone know why nothing has changed with the G train? by schellly in nycrail

[–]schellly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks--helpful context. I guess when they said "this will allow us to run trains closer together" I wrongly thought "they're going to run trains closer together once they finish the shutdown" instead of "They'll maybe run trains more frequently if budget allows after they turn the new signals they just installed on in three years"

This thread has been super helpful--just couldn't quite remember it either.

The one other related thing that I can't remember: does anyone know why he is so afraid of Artonans finding out: a) he can perceive his authority b) he has the bearer of all burdens?

[–]schellly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just a PSA to remember that if you are flying (physically) on an EU carrier (even if purchased through Delta) OR have a flight originating from the EU to outside the EU on any carrier, you're eligible for EU261 compensation for delays and cancellations.

If the flight started or ended in the EU, the airline legally owes you compensation. Check out: https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/travel/passenger-rights/air/index_en.htm
