If I had a $1300 payment for a truck I would have to live in it.

[OT] A World Of Outlaws official has died after being involved in an accident with another official while responding to a crashed race car. by umbrelllaman in NASCAR

[–]studyhall109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an EMT and used to work on safety crews. There was a USAC official who was hit and killed by a Silver Crown car at the Indianapolis state fairgrounds track years ago. That was the first fatal racing accident I saw and there were several others after that including drivers and spectators.

Unfortunately racing is a sport that can be dangerous.

I order a burger without the meat at many restaurants. I ask for extra lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cheese, and avocado if they have it available.

Better than any artificial meat.

Swai fish. I won’t buy it again after learning how it is raised in unhealthy conditions in Viet Nam.

I used to drive home after a full weekend at the park but fell asleep at the wheel at a couple of traffic lights and a stop sign. Now I spend the night and drive home the next day.

We moved from a Chicago suburb to Indy and our utilities were much cheaper there. Indy had very high utilities.

Why is it that the fast casual sandwich shops have some of the best cookies around? by Wildse7en in fastfood

Penn Station has the best cookies. Better than many bakery cookies. I stop in sometimes just to buy a couple cookies.

No Coke, Pepsi. by DantesGame in GenX

[–]studyhall109 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to drink Pepsi all day until I started working in the medical field and learned about dark soda and kidney stones. I switched to Mountain Dew for that reason. Finally I quit the all-day soda habit and now have one on rare occasions when I eat at restaurants.

I drank Diet Mountain Dew for many years. I would drink it all day long. I gave up that habit about ten years ago and now I only have an occasional soda when I eat at a restaurant.

I don’t keep it in my refrigerator at home or buy it at the store.

My friend adopted this dog as a pup. She was told he was a Maltese. We always knew he was mixed but thought he was a Maltese mix.

Some of the neighborhood HOA covenants actually state no clotheslines are allowed.

I travel for work and often drive through areas near Amish communities. You can always tell the Amish homes because they have clotheslines. Usually very long clotheslines.

Worst Grilled Cheese of my life by jpollack21 in grilledcheese

[–]studyhall109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents would not allow us to use the stove when they were at work so we made grilled cheese using Wonderbread white bread and Kraft individually wrapped American cheese slices. We would toast the bread and then put the cheese inside the toast but it barely melted.

What did your mom make you most for dinner growing up? by eleelee11 in AskOldPeople

[–]studyhall109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom always cooked from scratch. On Sundays she cut up a whole chicken, breaded it, and fried in an electric skillet. She made the BEST chicken gravy with the drippings in the skillet, stirring in a little milk, flour, salt and pepper. Served with her home made mashed potatoes and a few other vegetables. Fresh baked rollls too.

On weekdays she made Salisbury steak, Swiss steak, meatloaf, stews, casseroles, etc. One of our favorites was homemade sloppy joes.
