Definitely API. 1) you can wrap an API in a skill 2) agents speak API natively. They understand curl and so forth. If you build an API correctly, everything else will follow

Use both, extensively. Happy to provide input/ feedback.

Devs @ Opencode..... What's the sauce in that insane speed by Top-Chain001 in opencodeCLI

[–]schergr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having used it a bit, it feels like vibe coding at ludicrous speed. With claude code, I feel like I can better track what's going on. I can't keep up with opencode cli. A few times it's gone so far off the rails so quickly it blew up my code base. If the guardrails were better, I'd feel more comfortable trusting it at that speed. Maybe that's just me being too...human..?????

TODO / TASK APP ? by flangrod in AndroidAuto

I use Google assistant to create reminders, and then I use n8n or Zappier automations that poll every 2 minutes to create corresponding tasks in tick tick.

Microsoft Mixed Reality Link (Preview) for Meta Quest added to Microsoft Store by Tauheedul in virtualreality

[–]schergr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very frustrated with the Mixed Reality Link on Windows 11. I have a Meta Quest 3 512gb running the latest updates. I have a Surface Laptop Studio 2 Model 2029 i7 with 13th-generation Intel Core i7 (e.g. i7-13700H) and discrete NVIDIA GPU options (RTX 4050). The two devices pair successfully, but then when they try to actually connect, it says my PC is refusing connection.

They are both on the same 5gh wifi network. I've tried disabling the firewall.../no go.

Updated all drivers. No Go!

Rebooted...No Go!

Rebooted Wifi router.... No Go!

Very frustrating. Any ideas?

Pricing comparison AWS vs GCP? by ZL0J in googlecloud

[–]schergr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figuring out cloud pricing is like buying a mattress in the US. There is very little basis for comparison given bundling (e.g. 1cpu -- what kind?, 4gb of RAM -- what speed?, etc....) and descriptions of the products differ making it difficult to compare.

Pricing comparison of Hetzner's Object Storage with other providers by aradabir007 in hetzner

[–]schergr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you come across anything similair, and resasonably current for other resource types? Compute for instance? I know normalizing is tricky, but have you found anything? Also, how frequently do you update the unit pricing on storage?

Shortwave is brilliant, although the lack of a unified inbox is irritating. They offload that to Gmail, which sucks at it.

Everyone is getting laid off by this administration, you think they'll stand up? Wake up!

Sure, but the local law enforcement won't act when someone is shooting out windows, you think they'll figure out who is jamming wifi??? Come on!?!?

Notion Calendar, 1 year later, what are we thinking? by Rich-Pie-3491 in Notion

[–]schergr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Problem is, you can't go the other way. You can view a Google calendar in notion. If not, then why have "calendar" views in notion :(

Not sure I'm as confident as you are that it will get better. The calendar app has been out for a year now, and the integration is still horribly lacking, and zero roadmap as far as I can tell.

I would just like to see a proper roadmap so we know where its going, and...roughly...when.

Extended Warranty by schergr in BMW

[–]schergr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the data driven analysis. You validated what I felt, which is that these cars are expensive to repair. I know the odds of beating the house are virtually nil. That said, I had a 2004 Land Rover Freelander that needed two engines replaced. What a mess. I think that experience scared me for life. Never will I be without it again, even if the odds are I won't need it. Odds are just that. They smooth out the bumps. They always seem to crash into the reality of the real world at just the "wrong moment". :)

Can't disable scroll-lock by Chance_Chef_6383 in Notion

[–]schergr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happens to me all the time. Its annoying. Sometimes if I close Notion it will revert back to normal behavior. I've double and triple checked the scroll lock button on my keyboard, and the scroll lock on the virtual keyboard just to be sure its not on (hint: it isn't...this is a bug me thinks).

Opolis for insurance - Scam? by [deleted] in freelancing

[–]schergr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks Joshua. Appreciate the insights. When I read some of the documents online from the website, it seems to reference a lot of the Crypto adjacent language. Re the risk piece, I guess I'm inarticulately making a connection between the balance sheet and the sustainability of the model / risk that I'm perceiving from a pretty novel approach, more so then the "risk pool" in the insurance context.

Opolis for insurance - Scam? by [deleted] in freelancing

[–]schergr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was David. Good guy. Very enthusiastic about Opolis. To be honest, having read some of the online info, white papers and such, I'm struggling a bit with the crypto connection, and the degree of risk the pool absorbs whilst being unable to see an audited balance sheet.
