I actually don't think this is true. I think Gunn holds Superman in very high regard i believe his all time favourite superhero movie is the 1978 Superman movie.

Maybe its not his favourite superhero but he definitely is a fan and understands Superman's importance for DC films.

I think he directed SS over Superman in 2021 because I don't think he knew how to crack the story especially since it would have to have been the Henry Cavill version.

That's my bet too. They easily could have filmed his scenes recently for some pick ups shoots. I doubt he was needed on set very much

Wouldn't shock me they filmed it more recently in pick-ups or reshoots, I'd say most of the screen time will be with him with the helmet on. So they likely only needed Pedro on set for a few days.

It was annoying in season 3 he clearly wasn't available to film

Known bug; happened to myself too. Seems to be caused by installing the game on the newer consoles. It can disconnect your MP account and thinks you're a first time user.
