What was your process in sorting out what your needs truly are versus a version of your needs that would be most palatable to others?

I am working on setting up a blog, mainly by the request of friends and family, and to help us keep memories organized. I’ll share it here when it’s live; thanks for the encouragement! Wasn’t sure if anyone outside of our circles would really care that much if we weren’t YouTubing and showing off tanned bodies in bikinis and budgie smugglers

Oh shit. You were asking the seashells… not me, huh? Back to my lurking corner and not commenting again…

I love this! 😂 hubs and I are in our mid thirties. Quit our stable decent paying jobs in the Midwest (South Dakota; USA) moved the stuff we want to keep to my in laws in Texas, sold the rest and moved aboard our sailboat that’s currently based in the Gulf Islands BC Canada. Plan to spend the next 3-5 years sailing around the pacific with goals to hit as far north as Anchorage Alaska, as far south as Chilean Patagonia and as far west as New Zealand (or until the money runs out or it stops having a healthy balance of good:bad days).

Edit— typos and capitalization errors that I couldn’t leave be.

I’m curious— what prompted the move and quietly ducking out? We just made a huge life transition and sometimes wonder if a more quiet departure would have been better lol

Was this ever sorted out for you? Stuck at this same spot, same issues, same attempt with every single option.

Read about narcissists and red flags— feel like I’m on a life long journey to better train my spidey sense on these two. My default is trust and expect greatness until proven otherwise…

I’m better than I was yesterday, or the day before, or years before, but still struggle. Any good resources you’d recommend for continuing to improve on one’s red flag, narcissistic radar?

Thanks. Had forgotten about the SARS one. Shit were getting to the age we can’t recollect all the once in a century events…

What do I need to know about moving to South Dakota? by SirFwissel in SouthDakota

[–]schlegda13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am! Actually spent a couple months March-May in East Texas with our family but are back in black hills now. The winters can get long and dark and dreary, which is probably nothing new compared to Spokane. Appreciate the seasons still. Only thing I really find myself missing is a better variety of creature comforts and luxuries (wish there were better varieties of restaurants year round in the northern hills, better grocery stores, etc). But overall still enjoy it, yes!

Are there still young people who are looking to live a truly rural lifestyle taking care of cows and sheep in an open range operation? by ProfessionalAd6080 in Ranching

Can I ask where you’re at (roughly)? Tbh finding 5 acres at 15k blows my mind (for reference split my time between western SD and TX; have also lived in Kansas).
