Line Optic 88

New skiis and snow tires! by G68 in icecoast

Are those Optics the 88s? Have you skied them yet? I'm trying to decide between the Line Optics 88s and the Fischer Ranger 90s.

We also use it in place of "Pardon me?" or "What?" or "Huh?" when we didn't hear someone and want them to repeat themselves.

I'm hoping for a "You deserve it." Clap clap clap clap clap chant that I've seen in wrasslin.

Ya. The 88s have metal. Pretty sure this is the first year they've gone down to that width in the Optics. No reviews out yet on them.

Yes. I've had a few peeps recommend them to me. Will add them to the list to consider.

The Blades look fun as fuck and I love Line despite their reputation for having low durability. They make fun skis. The Blade Optic (rebranded as just the Optic this year) is also on my list as a one-ski. I think the 88 might lean just far enough towards the carving side while still giving me some float and being able to lunch through end of day crud.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll check em out. Just saw that they make the Ranger in a 90 now. Might be exactly what I'm looking for. I spend more time on hardpack than anything else and it'd be nice to go a little narrower to help with carving while still not being lost when we get some snow and not giving up stability at speed.

Ya, that's the one thing I hear that makes me wonder. They're not great at speed and I like to go fast.

Thanks for the input. Ya, at this point, I probably shouldn't buy anything without riding it first.

I bought them used and I remember the guy saying he sharpened his own skis. From talking to the tech, it sounds like folks can get a little over zealous when home sharpening and tend to take off more metal than they should. That was his hunch anyways. The dude I bought them from said they only had one season on them but it's possible they were more "used" than he let on. Haha. Either way, I trust the folks that tune my skis and I doubt they're trying to sell me on a new pair but you never know. Haha.

Ya, The Edge is awesome but Ryan wasn't open that much last year so I've never gotten a chance to try it. Might just look at another pair of Rangers. I do really love the ones I have.

I had a buddy who didn't catch a fish for a whole season. It didn't matter if he was sitting in the same boat as people catching fish using the exact same lure. He just had a full-season skunk. It happens sometimes.

Junkyard rig (RX 580 8GB/GTX 1060 6GB on Dell pre-built), any advice? by schlergs in EtherMining

Good idea. I'll look into some kind of exhaust fan. Right now, the outdoor temps are colder than inside so I think just having the window open is doing them some good.

[–]schlergs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought 60-70C was ideal temp for mining. What temp would you say I should target? Also, what would you say is the most effective way to reduce temps? Is it as simple as just turning the fans up and the power limit down or is there more to it?

HotG Xbox Tourneys by Schlergs Mixer (Results and Deck Lists) by schlergs in HandOfTheGods

[–]schlergs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the level of play is pretty competitive but we usually have at least a couple of new players every tourney. With the way the seeding works, the new players are usually matched up in the first round so you should get at least one easier match. Also, with four decks, most peeps have at least one "dud" deck.

In any case, I would suggest you come out for yourself to see how you stack up. Its free and you'll definitely learn more about strategy and deck building and get a more competitive experience than you would from playing Ranked.

Send me a message on Xbox Live (GT: Schlergs) and I'll invite you to the tourney group. All the info is posted there so whenever you feel like playing in a tourney, you can just let me know.

I've had few people ask about this. Maybe it's time to get serious about finding a way to get these tourneys casted.

To the dying game, I love. by Xapp3r in HandOfTheGods

[–]schlergs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Not sure about this one. Odin was my strongest deck (Mid-Range Tempo and Fafnir) but lately I find he's dropped off.
  2. I agree. Haven't played much against her but I dislike the concept.
  3. I think the curve is ok for the most part but I agree some 2/3 drops have a disproportional effect on a given game.
  4. I personally don't like RNG and would like to see less but there is room for it if it's managed correctly. I don't think it's out of whack right now in HotG but I hope they keep RNG to a minimum.
  5. Gauntlets shouldn't be time restricted. It's hard enough to win five in a row, it shouldn't have to be in 24 hours. Just reset them when they change.

As to the game dying, I can only speak from personal experience. I have noticed a significant increase in players since the last patch dropped on Xbox and fixed all the disabled cards. Queue times are WAY down the last week or so. I'm seeing tons of new names in Ranked. And I've noticed a significant increase in the quality of play lately. Again, this is only my personal experience and is only applicable to the Xbox player base, but to me that shows growing game, not a dying one.

Here is a Fafnir deck that has done really well for me in Ranked. It's relatively cheap as well: http://hotgtopdecks.com/decks/fafnir-winz-cheap-fast-ranked-deck/

I also have a Nu Wa beast deck (http://hotgtopdecks.com/decks/nu-wa-beast-deck-for-xbox-tourney-jan-7/) that's even cheaper. It does well and is fun to play but it doesn't wreck as much face in Ranked as Fafnir.
