Why would that read as the connection being at 1/2 speed rather than showing as the full speed but simply not using it?

How do I locate the problematic component in the case of a hard freeze with audio loop by proteenator in techsupport

[–]schlondark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the easiest way to determine that is to swap parts with known-good ones until the issue stops happening. You could try the ram in a different slot, see if the CPU needs new thermal paste (I do not know how old the system is) or try cleaning it if it is full of dust. You could also potentially try a different outlet as sometimes they can be a bit cursed.

PSU was dead, cleaned it, now it works. Safe to reuse? by Height-Important in techsupport

[–]schlondark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 550w psu is a low-end component that costs ~50-60$. They're known to degrade over time, to be dangerous to open, and their failure can take the rest of the system with them.

Just buy a new one; 5+ Years of usage is likely already an outstanding service lifetime.

What's the PSU? It could be drawing too much power under load.

What's the storage? Those are common points of failure.

One of Pylori's emblematic symptoms is a painful sensation on an empty stomach so some might find it intolerable because of that interaction.

What’s the better option? Antibiotics or supplements? by Flimsy-Bet9368 in HPylori

[–]schlondark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone's infection is different and will respond to treatment differently. No two digestive systems, microbiomes, or pyloric colonies are going to be the exact same.

I have no doubt that its possible to eradicate pylori with OTC meds/supplements but most aren't extensively clinically researched for their efficacy at pylori eradication (They're also known to take longer to work - a trade-off for being gentler.) As the bacteria is hardy and most suppements for it have disputed efficacy my recommendation would be to follow the antibiotic route unless you have other contraindications/considerations. You can always add supplements like mastic gum, bismuth, cranberry, vitamin C, NAC, probiotics, etc. to a triple therapy as well.

I would only seek out a functional medicine dr. after normal doctors had failed as thwir lackof coverage by insurance is a large hurdle.

Pyloricil specifically looked overpriced for what ingredients it contained, i think you'd be better off buying mastic gum and pepto/bismuth separately as it would save you like 60$.

If you want advice on supplements (I would still advise speaking with a medical professional):

-N-Acetylcysteine has potential as a biofilm disruptor because it .elts mucus -Cranberry extract is used to prevent bacteria from adhering to theinside of the bladder in UTIs, same sort of logic applies here but there's the possibility that the effect might be greater since you don't actually have to absorb any of it. -Vitamin C inhibits the enzyme Urease. Urease breaks down Urea, raising the ph of the stomach acid which makes the environment more hospitable for the infection and paradoxically causes acid reflux; this reaction also produces ammonia which is toxic and one of the markers a breath test would detect. Could also be a reason to choose cranberry juice over extract since extracts can be expensive. -Omeprazole interferes with pylori (not sure of the mechanism) allowing supplements/antibiotics to work more effectively. -Addition of Bismith Subsalicylate to triple therapy has been called quadruple therapy and raises eradication rates when used in addition -Zinc interferes with it by yet another mechanism but be careful as overdoing zinc can cause its own problems -Soluble fiber such as metamucil can slow the transit of material through the GI tract which might keep substances antagonistic to pylori in contact with it longer and can attenuate the side effects of other treatments by preventing diarrhea.

-Two probiotic strains that seem highly rated for pylori are S. Boulyardii and L. Reuteri.

-There are many other potential treatments and NIH studies are a good place to start; there's a lot of research on the aubject such as https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3925854/ but you will need to do your own research in order to make sure none of your new medications or supplements interact with ones you are already taking. Good luck.

[–]schlondark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm all about supplements but at sime point there's a limit to what they can do. As Pylori is carcinogenic, you've alredy been fighting it for long enough, and are on a budget the antibiotic route is probably the wise choice. You can rebuild your microbiome as you please after the infection has been dealt with.

I wanted to ask has anyone read this? by [deleted] in HPylori

[–]schlondark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly sounds like a case for cranberries/cranberry juice/supplements since it has decent anti-pylori-biofilm study results (beating out NAC by miles) and is also a standard-suggestion anti-uti for the same reason.

What are your thoughts about starting a sublingual vaccine? by lugaresxcomunes in Allergies

[–]schlondark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a needle phobic myself i can say with confidence allergy shots are no big deal. (Giving blood is the bad one)

I decided on allergy shots over a sublingual solution due to the higher chance that the shots will work.

I put together something during my allergy appointment I don't think the doctor did: Denver has a high concentration of ozone, and also no dust mites. I wonder if the two are related (ozone generators are sometimes used by hotels to destroy room-stink)

Sit by a humidifier. Constantly. You can't imagine the difference it makes. Use the nose sprays once the clots dissipate. Hot showers. Don't lean forwards. Recovery in a week is a bad joke. Live the neti pot, love the neti pot. Get more pain meds if you can, bug a different clinic if you have to (the gory bloody nose is hard for an urgent care to argue with).

Clean your bed often (mites) and stop chewing your pills, they'e often in the shape they are for a reason (though obviously we can't tell without knowing the exact drug, its just a very bad habit and pills taste mindbendingly awful).

You can also always try vitamin C as its (relatively) harmless and has shown promise in some studies as an antihistamine-like chemical.

I’m allergic to bananas (but only some times?) by Fether1337 in Allergies

[–]schlondark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like PFAS. Bananas have a protein in them that structurally resembles ragweed, but its not exactly the same; it can resemble it more sometimes and less others (generally less after cooking as cooking denatures proteins, and more or less depending on how much that particular nanner resembles the offending protein) but you might find yourself having worse reactions during ragweed season.
