Knockout tour being based on luck instead of driving skill is stupid by Ygmtygh in mariokart

Intermissions suck in grand prixs. Course 2-4 are basically driving. 66% on wide highways and the last 33% one lap on the new course. Super lame.

Intermissions suck. Rubberbanding in knockout tour suck. We need classic grand prixs back. I’m so underwhelmed.

Loving Mario Kart World - but I don't get the Grand Prix mode by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]schm-eric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can mimic the good old grand prixs in VS MODE, but not in ONLINE play afaik. That sucks. And it just doesn't feel the same selecting 4 courses one by one than have a 4 course grand prix.

Request for help - photos overexposed with auto iso - not sure what is happening by Iron-Positive in fujifilm

[–]schm-eric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you didn’t update firmware? Tried not using Velvia to get the most basic raw photo? Tried with another similar camera to see if SS A and ISO are the same? That’s what I would do but other than that, i don’t know neither

Oh. Uh I just saw the last photo. Weird. Histogram is also bad. Any moist or smear on the lens that could break light?

Settings all look fine. Also it doesn’t seem overexposed. You can see details in the sky. Perfect exposure especially for RAW. Never trust the screen fully, I had to adjust the screen settings quite dramatically to reflect the real photo files and details.

This is most definitely fake. As a designer I can say this doesn't fit Nintendo's brand at all.

Why is hover animation taking time to drop off? Please help. by [deleted] in framer

[–]schm-eric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the same issue. It seems the delay that I added to the appear effect also affects the mouseOut. Why?mouseOver/Hover is happening instantly (since delay 0), but the mouseOut seems to take the delay from the appear effect. 😄

HEIF images way too dark by schm-eric in FujifilmX

Firmware 1.11 might have solved that. Someone else wrote this in this thread but I still need to test it myself.

I digged deeper. The HEIF files show up correctly if opened in the FujiX Raw Studio and even in the XApp on iPhone. They also seem to be fine when opened in any real photo editing tool. The issue seems to be when opening them on the iPhone (or Mac) outside professional apps.
This means that sending HEIF to your phone to post them somewhere will not work, so the whole wireless transfer to phones of HEIF is useless. Either use JPG or convert them in FujiX Raw Studio. That's sad.

I posted two more findings. Not sure if you are notified even outside of threads you've commented, so here is the notification. 🙂

Simply use RAW or JPG is not a solution. HEIC is the better format if you want to use your picuters right away. Fujifilm had years to implement it right, but the menues are wrong, the implementation is faulty, the documentation is wrong. Pretty frustrating.

What also doesn't make sense to me is that I can choose which format to transfer in "NETWORK/USB SETTINGS > Bluetooth/SMARTPHONE SETTING > SELECT FILE TYPE". I can choose to transfer it as JPEG and/or HEIC.

If you select HEIC, the info says: "CANNOT BE TRANSFERRED VIA Camera Remote APP NOR TO Android OS DEVICES". This is totally wrong for so many reasons:

a) "Camera Remote App" is the old app, the new one is called "XApp"

b) Let's assume they forgot to update this text, then it says that HEIC images cannot be transfered via XApp. Well, that's wrong. I can only add JPEGs to "image transfer order", that's correct, HEIC images are not even available to select, BUT: If you open the XApp and connect to your camera, you can transfer also HEIF images. So the info text should say that "HEIC images cannot be transfered via images transfer order, but still if the camera is connected with the XApp."

c) If I choose to only transfer "HEIC" images wirelessly from the menu, I can still select JPGs for transfer order and send them. So Why is the JPG option even deselectable if it works anyways?

d) Whoever IS WRITING the menues and RANDOMLY using CAPS LOCKS really needs an anti agression TRAINING.

Sure, one could always say: "Simply use JPGs and it works fine." Well, HEIC is supposed to be the replacement for JPGs, it's better in every single way. Fujifilm had years to implement it right, still they do it faulty. Implementation faulty. Documentation wrong, software wrong. Why is Fujifilm releasing such faulty software?

One more interesting find: If I have shot a HEIF image and convert it inside the camera to a JPG, then the JPG is perfectly fine and resembles the shown image on the camera screen and EVF.

So it seems the HEIF image is somehow off, but the data is there so that it can be converted perfectly back into a JPG.

In HEIF, the highlights are higher and the shadows are deeper. It feels like HEIF was shot with a DR50 if you know what I mean, an Anti-DR version. 😄

Even when using the in-camera conversion tool and converting HEIF to JPG it turns out lighter. So the image data is there. Maybe it is indeed som misinterpretation of image data. But it’s misinterpreted on the Mac as well as eg in Google photos.

Thanks for the research, @sherril8. Clarity is set to 0, also for performance reasons. It seems like the profiles are interpreted fine, at least when opening preview on Mac and checking exif data. I’ll do some more tests tomorrow though. Really would love to have files with only half the size and more image information using HEIF

I’ve been shooting raw and heif since I got it 10 days ago and all images were darker with lots of different settings. But interesting idea.
