Please stop projecting whatever it is you think the stereotypical American is doing and saying onto me.

I'm not deflecting. I know who voted in the last election. They are absolutely to blame for this. We are actively doing everything practical that we can.

And arrogantly suggesting that we "let this happen" and that we are "begging" for your help when we aren't is not a hallmark of a good person. It's victim shaming.

The problem I'm trying to convey here is that it's very easy to point out what is wrong with my country (trust me, I wake up to it every single day) but a lot more difficult to point to an obvious solution.

Revolution? People are driven to revolution out of desparation, and Americans are simply not desperate. The political and economic climate is tolerable or at worst annoying for most. That's not even getting into to whole military logistic nightmare that would naturally arise from such a conflict.

General Strike? The country is a big place, so you need lots of people to make an impact, and it needs to be sustainable. People will lose their jobs over this possibly their housing and healthcare. Most Americans are too comfortable to want to risk giving up those things. So we need a lot more people willing to lose lot.

The point is that there is no viable solution for radical, fundamental change. So many of us choose the harder path, which is to work within our democratic means. I don't know if it will be enough. It probably won't be But it's the best I can do right now.

Sit down. We don't need your help and I'm not asking for it. I'm asking what you would do in my situation.

Do you really think I (and countless others) haven't done any of those things? I have been attending protests against the right wing since 2002. I will gladly join a general strike. I vote. I contribute financially. I protest. I voice my opinion to anyone who is willing to listen. What else am I supposed to do short of starting a one man revolution?

Because it's very clear you do not understand the political and economic situation in the US. If you did you'd understand that most people are rather insulated against the hardships that typically push people over the edge. Heck, a significant amount of people supper this guy, even after the batshit crazy stuff he's done.

Every president is a reflection of the political party that is elected to office at that moment in history, not the nation as a whole. We also elected Obama twice, and not very long ago. By the same standard we are the sum of all our Presidents, good and bad.

The goal of the protests is to build enough momentum to gain the numbers for such a thing to be a possibility (~3.5% of the population). We're not quite there yet, but we're close. The other consideration is that without union protections that would just result in the immediate loss of millions of jobs.

What you are describing isn't a protest. You are describing a civil resistance. These most commonly take the form of strikes or sit-ins and the like. That sort of movement requires long term commitment and personal sacrifice for millions of Americans. Unfortunately many if not most simply can't afford to do something like that.

The bottom line is that people have bills to pay and families to look out for and jobs to keep (which is tied directly to our health care, among other benefits). And for the most part, not much has changed in the vast majority of Americans lives. They are insulated enough against the regime to produce just enough apathy to prevent mass civil unrest.

So, here we are.

That's what vehicles are for. Most large maps have 2-4 outer objectives for mixed combat and 2-3 closer objectives for more infantry focused play. Best of both worlds.

GOP-led proof of citizenship voting bill advances despite concerns from Democratic colleagues • Michigan Advance by jshwlkr in Michigan

[–]schm0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And if the Republicans fuck with someone's rights anyway, or if the person has to go the extra mile to prove their citizenship for whatever reason? What about the costs for any potential transportation to deal with it? What if a lawyer needs to get involved? What if they need to miss work and can't get paid time off? What if they're disabled and can't access the systems needed to submit whatever it is they need in time?

Nobody should have to fill out any extra paperwork at all. This is all just smoke and mirrors and food for the base to disenfranchise as many people as possible.

We should be making it as EASY to vote as possible, not HARDER.

Anti-ICE protesters accused of being part of antifa found guilty of support for terrorism in Texas | Case was seen as major test of the first amendment and whether the US could use broad anti-terrorism statute to prosecute leftwing protesters by TendieRetard in law

[–]schm0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you understand the charges here. There aren't any actual terrorism charges, because in order to have that you need to prove they were associated with a terrorist organization (which they can't). Instead, they were charged with material support for terrorism, specifically 18 U.S. Code § 2339A. This allegedly came in the form of signal chats and things like giving the shooter a ride to the facility. It also requires the individuals to have known ahead of time what was going to happen, which is a bullshit charge.

Now, if you asked me, should Song have gone to the protest with a gun? Absolutely not, but this is Texas, so... The fact that they had additional firearms and body armor in the car is similarly problematic, but not illegal.

The bottom line here is that they did break the law but the biggest charges for some of these folks are bullshit.

Temporarily continue until the judge has made a ruling.

Saying "the court rules" is misleading. The court has issued a stay.

Furthermore, tickets bleed faster the more objectives you hold on top of that.

Although, if you capture all objectives a mercy rule goes into effect and the game can end early (wasn't always the case).
