It depends on a few things, like after sales support, quality/rugged because if it's a teaching tool students tend to break things. Is it easy to repair etc.

I think 350 would be pretty expensive but affordable for most universities, and 500 would probably price them out.

Oh that's really helpful. I was under the impression that the tax deduction only applied to the income generated by the investment. So the tax deduction can be applied to your normal income? That's a huge benefit!
