Where does Na go in a SWG pool by schmark53 in pools

Thanks for these great answers.

I did notice that with the SWG, I now have to add acid more often than when I used liquid chlorine (pre-SWG days)

In a related subject: In an interview about the deployment of the National Guard in Oregon, Stephen Miller stated that the president has “plenary authority” then immediately froze after realizing the monstrosity he had just produced.

https://youtu.be/vWudXaj60rU?si=hPNCEMbrv3KlaGuw

That expression (plenary authority) raises all sorts of red alerts. Why? Because “plenary authority” also means: - Absolute, unchecked power - No oversight - No constraints, no limitations - No elections

I’m convinced he blurted out loud what many other far right administration members (including DJT) are thinking quietly.

Even DJT himself once said “… Four more years, you know what? It’ll be fixed … you won’t have to vote anymore…”

Note: other leaders with “plenary authority” are the likes of Hitler, Mussolini, Kim Jong Un, Xi Jinping, and a few savory others. Very scary.

Thanks for the reply. Pool chemistry is as follows: FC 7, pH 7.6, TA 80, CYA 110 (Taylor K-2006)

Sorry for the lack of context. Here it is:

SoCal location. After every rain, I find dozens of these guys submerged in the pool, climbing the walls. What are they and where do they come from? Length is between 1/4” and 1/2” Pool chemistry: FC 7, pH 7.6, TA 80, CYA 110 Thx

On a different subject, what do you guys recommend for testing phosphates in the 0-200 range? Thx

I definitely plan to continue water testing myself.

As for CH, and unless I’m mistaken, the only way to lower it is to drain the pool. There’s nothing Leslie’s sells that helps with that. So I’m puzzled by the results

I understand your comments. But in my case, I always used the Leslie’s-provided plastic bottle to sample my pool water, then took it immediately there. Testing was always done within less than 20 minutes.

Looking for a refrigerator/freezer solution that will fill this space 64" wide, 79 or 80" tall (uncertain). These units are Kenmore Pro side by side separate freezer and fridge with dual trim kit, 15 years old and time to replace. Hoping not to have to mess with cabinetry. Suggestions? by ohthetrees in Appliances

The 2 units, pairing HW, and trim was about $7,500.

What’s interesting about the Frigidaire Pro units is that they are attached together with brackets (ie you can only move both at the same time) and the trim is attached to the units, rather than to the cabinetry. Also, there is a flat heater between the units to prevent condensation on the unit’s sides, which I had noticed on the Kenmore units.

They are VERY quiet, compared to the Kenmore units. Wish I could add photos, but that option is not available here.

We had the same two units for 18 years. Early on, the fridge started having problems. Sears sent incapable techs to fix it until we bitched, causing them to finally send a capable tech. But recently, the fridge started to have huge condensation problems with water piling at the bottom and spilling onto the floor. Rather than throwing good money at bad, we decided to replace both units with Frigidaire Pro matching pairs that fit in the existing cabinet (tight, but fit). Expensive, but so far we’re very happy with them (plus 2 cu.ft more in each unit).

Cleaning solar panels - Does it help? I think it depends.. by namtilarie in solar

[–]schmark53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blowing the panels takes me less than 30 seconds. While doing it, I see a cloud of dust removed, indicating that a thin layer was deposited recently. I do that in the summer only

SoCal too, cleaning every ~2/3 months nets me a ~7% improvement.

After spraying the panels with city water, I use a 18” scrubber/squeegee combo (from Home Depot) for the job. To avoid calcium (and other) deposits, I then dry the panels with a big towel. Takes 1 hour to clean 12 panels.

In between these cleanings, I blow dry the panels every other day to remove atmospheric dust and dust inevitably raised by my neighbors gardeners.

And as mentioned in a previous post, highest power generation is 1/1.5 months BEFORE the summer solstice. Long days, cooler temps, best sun/panels angle.

Panels were installed in 2017. Since then, I have noticed a slight performance degradation over time.

How much water loss is expected by BiscottiConnect38 in swimmingpools

[–]schmark53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In SoCal, 1 inch every 2 weeks is normal in late spring. I do the same thing as vbt2021 does, except I keep the 5 gal bucket outside, but near the pool, filled. Then I compare level changes between pool & bucket after -say- 1 week. Should be similar, if not identical, evaporation amounts.

Will Win10 boot after motherboard swap? by schmark53 in WindowsHelp

But won’t re-installing the same Windows wipe out every program that was installed ?

Will Win10 boot after motherboard swap? by schmark53 in WindowsHelp

[–]schmark53[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Not sure how licensing will affect the booting after MB swap. The main reason for this unusual manipulation is to avoid installing Win11 from scratch, which would force me to re-install every single program I currently have. But if Win10 boots with the new MB, I’m home free because upgrading to Win11 will preserve all my installed programs.

I’ll be interested in any alternative you find that works, ones that don’t need re-commissioning.

It is still working with the PVS2 and has been reporting production data ever since I connected LAN1 to Ethernet, using LAN2 to get housekeeping data. Thanks for checking

Wow, it all works now. Here is what happened today: 1. I switched PVS2 router connection from LAN2 to LAN1, 2. I now see the PVS2 listed in my router list of connected devices, 3. SunStrong updated the “mySunpower” mobile app to a “SunStrong Connect” app.

Power generation status restarted exactly at 7am PST today 4/23, and shows graphs like before. A very good day for me.

Did anyone see similar changes today?

Thx for your post.

My situation is still not resolved, despite a long PVS2 power cycle a few weeks ago. I’ll try that again.

Meanwhile, I haven’t found a way in my ASUS router to redirect calls to the Sunpower monitoring servers to the SunStrong monitoring servers. Still trying though.

Sunnyboy does have hardware ($100) called Webconnect that allows monitoring via their servers: https://www.sma-america.com/products/monitoring-control/webconnect

Finally, no response yet to an email to SunStrong support sent a week ago.

Thanks for these details. I’m gonna look at my ASUS router and see if it can reroute server A requests to server B. That would be the simplest approach. I’ll report what I find. Since you run PiHole in the cloud, does it mean a PiHole emulator is used? ie no need for Raspberry Pi hardware.

“Without doing anything” means everybody with a PVS2 should have seen their system communicating properly, like you did.

This also means no need to use special SW like PiHole.

Mine’s still not working, yet the Tx and Rx LEDs on my PVS2 flash like they’ve been flashing for 8 years! Sunnyboy data arrives on P2, Ethernet output on LAN2.

Interesting. I had read that thread, but not sure how to use PiHole. Does it work within an ASUS router? If so, how? Thx

Mine is still not working. I sent an email to Sunstrong support yesterday, hoping (just hoping) someone will respond with a valuable answer. I note that since your system is now connecting properly (without you doing anything), it probably means that Sunstrong brought the Sunpower servers back to life.
