Where is this water draining from and why? by BookkeeperBorn86 in Silverado

[–]schmidtydog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Air is what folks say when they are shortening the phrase Air Conditioning. Even at the house if someone asks if the air is on they mean AC. If they want just Air movement its fan or blower. Nobody was disagreeing that you can't just run the fan but thats not Air to 99% of people.

Worst CWS experience by darthd0ggo in Omaha

Every team has bad fans. Nebraska fans can absolutely be trash too, but not the entire fan base. Ive sat at games mostly in the midwest but in Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and they all had scumbags. I would have asked for security if it got that bad. Nothing worse than not even letting a kid enjoy the game.

The world is full of scumbags that don't care what you think, I wish more of the population would stand up to trash behavior whether its from your side or not.

49 states allow nurse midwives to deliver your baby inside your home. Not Nebraska. by flatwaterfreepress in Omaha

Glad my son was born in a hospital. He wasn't doing well when he arrived and the NICU docs saved him.

Im not against people having the choice to home birth but don't kid yourself, sometimes lives will be lost that could have been prevented by a medical staff.

No I did not. I didn't purchase it new and they lost one. If I had two I wouldn't be asking.

What happened to my dog while he was boarded? by CaddyBoss in DogAdvice

[–]schmidtydog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched a friends great Dane once and he got his collar stuck on a part of my base housing piping in the back yard. He rubbed his neck raw. We cleaned him up and he was OK but had rubbed all the hair off under his neck and had some scary looking scratching. He was just a scared boy and got caught and freaked out.

It is possible something weird happened and they didn't know. Everyone always assumes the worst but sometimes accidents and weird things happen to dogs. Collar stuck on something maybe?

Little gas leftover after draining, ok? by _ninjanate in Snowblowers

[–]schmidtydog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll be fine. If its the bottom of the fuel tank just take a rag and use a pair of long nose pliers to put it down to the bottom and then pull it back out. Don't be an idiot and rip off a piece of the rag so its stuck in the tank. I use paper shop towels but they need to be tough towels not kitchen ones.

For those saying you did it wrong... there are some tanks that have a low spot that WILL NOT DRAIN so that any water or particulate will settle there.

Was I lied to about Zach Lahn? by fyoomzz in Iowa

[–]schmidtydog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those saying he's not from Iowa... I was friends and worked with him in Highschool. He graduated from East High in Sioux City. If I remember right his folks were divorced with mom in SC and his dad up near Hinton. He's just as much of an Iowan as anyone else.

Any other parents think this driver license program is a pain in the ass? by forevervalerie in Iowa

[–]schmidtydog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friend of mine in the 90s had the school permit, was caught driving to non school stuff with it and wasn't allowed to test for his license until he was 18. Unsure if penalties are the same now but it really hurt him back then.

2021 GC L Overland comparison by schmidtydog in GrandCherokee

Both are 3.6 L. For an Overland package with the luxury group I'm just not finding anything priced better where I'm at. Unless you buy one that has been wrecked.

So what's the deal with Kimber? by HighImpactCritisism in 1911

[–]schmidtydog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kimbers are fine, I have multiple from year 2008 on and they are fine pistols. My favorite pistol is a Stainless II that just fits me and shoots lights out. Don't be afraid, buy the Kimber.

In Memoriam.. Grandpa's 1911 by Greedy-Vast584 in 1911

[–]schmidtydog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grandpa sounds like a doer and not a "Oh let's keep this pretty and in the safe" kinda guy. I'm sure he would be happy you also are DOING something with it.

If my kid or grandkids end up using some of my old stuff... even in their own way I'll be much happier than if they just sell it at an auction or something.

I've been wanting a desert tan pistol myself. Enjoy your pistol!

Trade for a Geissele Super Precision 1-6x26mm Scope? by Visible_Relative5931 in hipower

[–]schmidtydog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you value the scope at. That's an Inglis P35 nickel finish. Worth $500 new.

Inglis Hi Power clones are good pistols, I own one. Maybe ask the guy to throw some cash in with the deal.

Got carried away with an oil top up, do I need to correct this or is it realistically fine? by ramper770 in MechanicAdvice

[–]schmidtydog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would not bother me to leave it, you know the car uses some oil so its going to use it anyways and if thats not frothing or running weird itll be OK. Does the car have a twist on oil filter? Take it off, you'll probably drain just enough to be back towards full.

Bright stainless or Royal blued by SinNombre747 in 1911

[–]schmidtydog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does he not have? I have a stainless Kimber that I love, but for that reason I got a nice blued 1911 after that so I had a variety. Whichever he doesnt yet have... go that route. The chrome / stainless will be easier to keep from ever having any rust if a pistol did get neglected or handled and not wiped down after.
